I won a seat to the Masters on my first attempt.

Was chip leader with 6 to go in my first attempt at the $175 tourney, then musta had a brain fade and finished 5th when top 4 were guaranteed a seat. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Won some money but I shoulda played real tight and let the others fight it out.

Haven't tried the other cos I don't wanna pay US $80 at this stage.

Currently on the bubble for the $175 first-up event qualifier at Crown, however the man behind me in chips is away and hasnt played a hand in roughly an hour, hopefully I can at least outlast him.

Edit: Now in the money and running 3 of 5, top 3 get a seat. Short stack still hasnt played a hand in an hour, may fall back into a seat.

Second Edit: Now top 4, and short-stack is still away, how the hell do I play this...rocky I think.

and you join me at Crown! you guys took a while to figure out ur strategy, geez !!! if he did come back, someone may have regretted not auto folding around. and to think kungfu folded his SB, gifting OZ 600 :D

i'll be playing Thursday and hope to transfer for a seat at the $175 event.

i lost first hand, BB, trip jacks, lost to a straight, not a good start. was last place most of the way, best I got was 7th with 17 left. my A-K to your 7s was going to make or break the both of us.

EDIT: i reckon with 6 left you should have colluded. he plays the same way every time, usually 1st out, otherwise he doubles/triples up then leaves. silly play to completely sit out, as chip leader, he didn't need to do much to get a seat.

Well you heard it, Im in. It was funy that guy was on my table from the get-go was kill-philling it to the max, went all in nearly every 2nd or 3rd hand, and then just left his computer.

Anyway yeah I was saying, just call down his BB and basically everyone would fold, I folded A-J against a raise from QQ which I would have otherwise called probably, and also had A-Q and a dude folded with 7's another interesting hand.

Oh well it dont matter, and now Im playing reckless poker.

your turn Falchoon to win a seat. if ur registered on PNW, freeroll Tuesday for $750 main event, satellite Thursday for $230 hotshots/masters, no more online satellites.

I'm on a self imposed poker holiday at present as I pursue a potential promotion at work. Haven't played for 4 weeks online and 3 weeks live. Though if the Mrs wasn't coming to the footy Thursday i might have broken it live .

I'm going to stay offline for at least another fortnight and come back ready to kill.

Have learned a very valuable and costly lesson tonight. More info later.

Well I see you're already knocked out so it must have been costly. So far whats been frustrating in this tournament is an over-agressive player to my left, everytime I try to limp he'll raise me, the one time I tried to get sneaky with a big handy and flat-call, he didnt raise me, board was rag-rag-rag i took a stab and he re-raised me.

Bit sick of everyone stealing squatter blinds, at times I had 6 players away. Blinds at 150/300, cutoff raises to 600, I go all for 1200 with 9-8o, villain shows K-Qo and flops a Queen. With an M under 3, and little chance of winning, I had to take my chances. No regrets with how I went out.

My night was defined by two hands, and basically I sum it up like this. When you are in position to cap the betting pre-flop, if to call will cost you the big blind or slightly more, call with almost any two cards. I try to never limp in, but that policy, together with hand selection, should be weighed up against how much a call will cost to cap pre-flop betting.

The first time, I had T-4o on the BTN with two callers of 50, together with an away BB. Flop T-6-4, 1st villain goes all in, 2nd villain calls, wins with pocket queens and doubles up. And for a bet of 50, I would have tripled up to about 4000.

Second time, UTG+1 raises 2xBB to 200, one caller, I'm on the button, SB and BB away. I think I had J-6o, flop 6-6-rag. Some big bets put out, again, I would have profited quite well.

I learn something each time, this is my lesson for today.

My table was friggin going all-in if it was ever limped to them, very frustrating play. Yeah it was a situation similar to me, I was chip leader on my table but didnt want to get out of control, had 9-4 in the small blind, raise was 3xbb I thought, nah Ill wait this one out. Flop 9-2-4 then another 4, and same situation with me, the raiser ridicoulasly overbet the pot, and a lot of chips would have gone my way, but hey thats poker.

Another thing I learned is that I have to get a copy of Kill Phil to at least educate myself on exactly what the strategy is, whether I use it or not, at least I would be able to recognise it and combat it.

My basic rule (not always) on the button with an M> 6 is to always call any raises of 2xBB if my cards add up to greater than 16. Of course, with premium hands will raise.
Position counts, even holding 97o.

An M between 3 and 6, I will fold all but the premium hands.

M less than 3, go all in any cards greater than 16 no matter the position if first raiser.

not at all........

playing whilst I should have been at work on the other hand.........

My break is more to do with concentration/tiredness and a soon to be 2 year old. Plus I just started playing basketball again, I have a personal trainer 2 nights a week, play golf on Saturdays and enjoy the football.

oh and the Mrs expects me to communicate with her every now and again.

I think what R+B was saying was that it's worth calling with any 2 cards if the riase is small and you're in a blind, or if no one's raised and you can limp - purely for the value, and possibility of flopping something big.

In your case the 3xBB raise is too much to call with just a 9-4o, and even though you would have ended up with a full house you'll lose way more often than win by calling with those hands so you cant really be too unhappy about that as folding is clearly the right move.

Currently, DoubleA 1/18, I'm 3/18 :) What a surprise, the Kill Phil'er gets knocked out 1st!

He went all in on the draw, I had pocket aces, he had AJ, he raised to me and I re-raised flop was K-10-2 rainbow, he was first to act and went all in, didnt put him on KK, was hoping he had A-K, he needed a Q on the river didnt get it.

I am first right now, but ive been catching some crazy flops so far.

That extra agressive player to your left there r+b is hella-frsutrating, basically what I was experiencing on Tuesday night freeroll, you cant put him on any two cards, and you made a good call to knock him out.

Im chip leader, however 2nd and 3rd (r+b) are close, interesting to see who comes out with the cash/ticket, I really want this one.
