Will Rucci publish the ratings for these games in the 'Tiser?
Talking about Rucci.
I started to read the Messenger for the first time ever a week or so ago, saw his name in sports column, threw it away.

How ****ing hard is it to keep him away from print media in this state.

He might for the showdown, he'll somehow try and spin it that Port's expansion into China has lead to the chinese population of the US tuning into watch Port.

Unfortunately The Messenger is a Newscorpse pulibication so they share articles from time to time.

Anyone can access US cable tv ratings. I track them now where they are available as part of my weekly ratings listings. So far this year only three Adelaide games have made the ratings lists - The Showdown rated 7,000, the game against Geelong rated 20,000 and the North game rated 13,000.

On the other hand Port Adelaide have rated 56,000 v Fremantle, 40,000 v West Coast, and of course 7,000 for the showdown.

Must be a lot of West Aussies in the US

I don't think that counts those of us with directv...I am shocked the Hawthorn game didn't rate, btw.

The other thing that will drastically effect ratings is the time they are played. I assume a lot of Australians go to school/work on the west coast. The Geelong and North games would have aired at 3am west coast time.

So I would not read a whole lot into those numbers.

Looks like the Americans don't like either SA team and love Geelong and West Australians.

AmericanCrow if we can promise you Chicken Salt, can you promote our club a bit more over there.

I wont be happy till I see Lebron wearing a Crows jumper, whilst eating some Chicken Salt covered hot chips.

We are nationally televised more than any of those clubs.

That is all I can tell you. :)

However, this chicken salt thing sounds very yummy.

Nielsen ratings aren't really reliable at numbers that low -- those ratings all translate to single-digit viewership among the Nielsen sample. I wouldn't draw any real conclusions. Port having better numbers could be a result of there being something good on before the Port game and then someone falling asleep in front of the TV. Considering the hours those games would be on, I'd almost call that more likely than not.
