BREAKING NEWS: GOLDEN Slipper winner Crystal Lily has died at trackwork at Flemington today.
Early reports say the champion horse, trained by Matthew Ellerton and Mark Zahra, had a heart attack while galloping.
Top jockey Glen Boss was reportedly thrown from the horse and may have been injured.
The four-year-old mare, by Stratum, had won $2.65 million in prizemoney.
More to come...

R.I.P.

Very sad. No doubt the owners are devastated.

Rare gem in the thouroughbred (broodmare) world. Four slipper winners (including her) in her pedigree.

Vale Lily :(

Been a keen follower of Ellerton's stable since the days of Paint and Black Bean.

Its the second quality horse the've lost in couple of years after Sunburnt Land got hit by a lightning.

Awful news for Contract & all at Ellerton/Zahra's
I know you only hear about the good ones but geez this is happening a lot

Boss definitely out this week (according to Cummings) & possibly a lot longer

I was sore when Real Saga and Sebring retired early that's all.

I get your point but some bloodlines are a big loss to the entire breed.

Yeah but i horse could just as easily get bit by a snake at stud and die. you cannot wrap them in cotton wool and fear the unlikely will happen all the time.
