There was at least one other game, vs the Dons I think where he butchered it kicking in.
A large part of the problem was he was obvioulsy the designated kicker, but daydreaming after the point.......whoever had it in the square would then put it down.....CJ wandered in casually, and had barely picked up the pill when the ump (quite rightly) blew play on and he had to rush the kick......this happened a number of times over a few games.

In general play though he rarely misses and is a penetrating low kick.

Enough to perservere with for a PSD pick........i.e. hasn't cost us anything.

He also butchered against Adelaide (but he wasnt on his own there), as I already said looks polished but misses targets too reguarly for a designated kicker.

We have no system kicking out, no structure that is identifiable and are too slow to move the ball - these points are coaching issues and not Johnson's though.

No issues with not losing anything for him (draft wise) except possibly salary cap space.

I remember him butchering some handballs vs Crows (see what I said above) but his kicking wasn't bad. Actually some of his passes were outstanding.

I don't remember his kick ins from that game......I wasn't game to watch after Russell made a hash of a couple, and our "kick it to Kreuzer" tactic failed dismally.

You are aware that Russ did much of thie kicking in during the 2nd and 3rd Q's that resulted in the immediate goals?

Anyway, moot point. His kick-ins aren't great, which is more or less why we got him.....so you have a point, but his field kicking in general play is usually quite good, if not exceptional.

He can occassionally hit a target as he did one really nice kick in the first quarter at the Lockett end when he hit Fev on the tit between a couple of Crows but those kicks are too far apart - exceptional kick, well umm......... I'll take a raincheck on that one

That WAS an exceptional kick. Dropped it into the space very nicely and Fev didn't have to break stride......hence......use of the word usually.

Go back and have a look at rounds 1 and 2 and you'll see some nice long ranged (40-50m) precision passes from the HBF to the F50........zone busters.

That's why we got him. Clearly you disagree, so whatever.

I suspect he needs to work on the mental side of his game, and the physical one-on-one stuff but he is young and does possess the ability to hit targets.

Now he has had a year to settle in lets see what a full pre-season shows.:thumbsu:

The amount of pressure in rounds 1 - 2 weren't the greatest, at least we agree on his "physicality" - l hope in 12 months time you prove me wrong, but l am not sure if you will???

Incorrect on Johnson. He is generally a superb kick, it is just in the one on ones and physical stakes that he lacks. You are probably judging him on that one game where he turned the ball over a few times in quick succession before going off injured. Either that was a fluke or he was already hampered by the injury at that time. Kicking is definitely his number one attribute.

That was the game vs the Bulldogs.
Amazing that he could turn the ball over so often is such a short period of time, however, his kicking prior to that had been ok IMO. Geez, everyone coughs the ball up.
