Whats up fellas, i got a question for you...

Are you disapointed with how Chicky has performed at your club? It is pretty clear he hasnt been as "Influencial" as he was at Hawthorn, but that possibly could be because you have more talent in areas Chick plays.....We'll take him back if ya want ;)

What are your thoughts, great deal, or disapointing?

I think he's done well at the eagles. Woosha has him playing in a different role here than what he played at Hawthorn. Its been disappointing that he's had a few injuries but the way he has been able to shut down some dangerous players I've been happy with.

He hasn't been disappointing at all IMO and has played some very good games for us. He plays a different role at the Eagles than he did at the Hawks. Its hard to have the same impact from a back pocket than it is from the midfield. He has shut down some very good players for us and has filled his role almost to perfection. I can't remember him being beat too many times.

Seems that whenever Chicky looks like stringing together some quality games he cops an injury.. we havent seen the best of him... but he has played some excellent games. I remember him stitching up Pavlich and Voss a few times.

Has he cemented a spot in your team, or does he have to show something every game to be selected the following week...?

He's a best 22 player when fit, but he has struggled to string the games together. Got onto a good game in the second half of last year playing out of defense and performing some good stopping jobs. Generally, he's an important experienced hand but not the star he was at Hawthorn. Overall, I think he's performed well when fit but the injuries have taken the gloss off his time at West Coast.

definitley best 22. he plays a completely different game to what he played at the hawks, i think that is mainly due to the strength of our midfield. the experience he offers in the back line is very important. the less knowledgable footy people look at his possesion count and think he's struggling which isnt true.

I think its misleading to say Daniel Chick was a star player at Hawthorn. Although a very good player who could mix it with players like Buckley (and has done the same for us at times) he was never an elite player at AFL level and never got close to winning a brownlow or anything like that. His importance as an AFL player has always been on his defensive work. The fact Hawthorn traded him for a #10 pick in a weak draft shows they acknowledged the same thing. If they thought he was an elite player they would have demanded something like the Headland deal.

I think Hawthorn took what they could get, Chicky was always gonna go. Im not even sure West Coast were that keen on him??

Luke Brennan i think....

Yeah.. he's only played the 3 games so far?

Even with the benefit of hindsight, I'm pretty happy with the Chick trade. Obviously he has less opportunities at West Coast due to him not being able to break into the midfield, but he's a handy interchange player and defender. May not have been a great career move from his perspective though- if he was still at Hawthorn, I have a sneaking suspicion he may very well have the (c) after his name at the moment.

If Chicky retired tomorrow, I'd still be reasonably happy with what we've gotten from him- he's struggled with injuries over the past few years, but generally when he has been able to get out on the park, he's played some very good games in a stopper role- I can think off hand of 2-3 games where he was certainly the out and out gamewinner, either through shutting down the opposition's key player or putting in a bumper performance himself. Its a bit of a cliche, but I do reckon he's a great guy to have around the club, and would be my absolute first choice for who I would want mentoring the huge heap of kids we have still really coming to terms with what being an AFL player means.

The other excellent reason for us to be satisfied with the Chick trade is because of the alternative. With Headland (at the time higher priced, and definitely higher rated) and Chick both available that year, one was always going to end up at either WA club- looking at what Freo gave up for Headland, and how disappointing he has been, we seriously dodged a bullet with that one.

Coincidentally both WA clubs were faced with a very similar situation last year with both Stenglein and Carr wanting to come home, and Freo shelling out more for the higher priced player again. Will be interesting to see how they go.

Chick's been OK for us without setting the world on fair. He hasn't had the best run with injuries unfortunately but he adds a lot of experience to the club which is invaluable in a young team like this.

7 tackles today by Chicky.....more than anyone else on the field in a close contest. And Sydney_eagle said he was ********......

Chicky is top 3 tacklers in the league IMO, if not no.1.....
