I'm a huge fan of the way Kerr plays his football. Similar to Judd in my opinion, in his ability to burst games open with explosive speed. Heard he might be on the outer - but doubt that this is true. Thinking from a Richmond point of view - would you consider any trade? Maybe pick no.4 and Chaffey (or is that being too optimistic)?

Interested in the eagles' supporters opinions of him. Is he consistent enough to join the elite of the AFL or will he just be a burst player for the entirety of his career? Finally, which state does he hail from?

Another one. Kerr is not on the outer, and there is no need to trade him.

I doubt he would be on the outer with the club.

From my personal point of view I would not consider trading Kerr, to Richmond, or pretty much any other club.

Kerr is still only young, but he has everything available to him to become an elite midfielder. He is a WA boy through and through.

Unfortunately for you guys, you may have no choice. A great, young list with growing Salary expectations.

Its hard to see, without the luxury of a Brisbane like player retention bonus, how you can afford to keep your list together when it oncludes so many exciting marketable prospects.

Cousins must be on $450K plus
Judd must be looking at $450 plus
Fletcher, Kerr, Gardiner must all be $250-$300plus

Apart from Gardiner who has to deliver after som much injury time out - these guys can all get much better at other clubs

Collingwood would give Judd $1 million a year - no question - all other clubs would find at least $750,000

Cousins would get $600k at any other club

Fletcher, Kerr, Gardiner are all $400,000 plus players

Unless these guys all take salary cuts for the team cause - I cant see how the Eagles will keep their list together over the next 2 years.

1. Pick 4 is tempting, but wont guarantee us Lance Franklin.
2. Throwing Chaffy in is a joke.
3. Kerr is a required player from the state of Bombay

fortunately for us, that's what's been happening. Cuz took a pay cut last contract and most of the other players are on performance based contracts which helps the club our dramatically and gives them roo to move in the salary cap.

Kerr won't be traded. IMO, the club would trade Fletch before they traded Kerr purely becuase Fletch is 25 and Kerr 21. Neither will happen though. Most if not all of our WA boys would rather play in their home state, at the club they supported as a kid for less money than go interstate and have to live in Melbourne.

This year we got rid of Collica who was on a good contract having finished 2nd in our best and fairest in 2002 when he renewed his contract. Morrison was on a huge back ended contract which finished this year. Jakovich has retired, Banfields salary will be halved. Wirrpunda and Matera were put onto performance based contracts. Cousins renegotiated his contract and took a pay cut.

In 2006 when we need extra to pay Judd, we have 4 players who would be eligible for the Veterans list (half of Salary not under Salary cap) and they are Cousins, Wirrpunda, Morrison and Matera. Banfield would most likely retire or have retired by then as well.

After the media spotlight being thrown on Judd this week he may very well not want to return to Victoria. He hates being in the spotlight and would be less inclined to be harrassed over here in the West where there is only one Newspaper and no Eddie type moguls looking to interview him every hour of the day.

West Coast is one of the best at list management and the days of huge back ended contracts is well and truly over. Judds happy here and whatever the Eddiewoods of this world offer him moneywise I am sure that we could match it without difficulty.

Cousins, Wirrpunda nad Morrison will not qualify as they are all under 30 - and you can only have 2 veterans anyway.

I take it that you don't rate him. Shame, because I'm sure he'd love to go to Perth. After all it is the greatest city on earth, is it not?

\.

I thought it was two players get there salery halved, then the third player gets his thirded, fourth player get his quatered and so on and so forth.
I heard this the same time the "hefferenan rule" and "capuano rule" came into place and i think it was tif cherry who said it.
Anyway there would be gards the year after as well. so there plenty of space.

as for kerr isnt he, judd and another bloke goin on holliday to new york?
I think it was on afl.com somewhere.

I thought they were best friends, i wouldnt want to trade away judds best friend, especially back to victoria.

Yes, you are right about the age restriction, only Matera will be eligible but you are wrong re the number of Veterans as under the new AFLPA CBA

Clubs may list any number of eligible veterans, with the number previously restricted to two. The percentage of the veterans’ salaries exempt from the salary cap will be proportional to the number of veterans listed, with the percentage reducing as the number of veterans increases.

Nisbett is still excellent when it comes to our list management and will ensure we have the funds required to keep Judd. With the move to performance based contracts I am sure we won't have a problem hanging onto our young players. With there being no increase to the TPP in 2006 a lot of the other clubs will find it just as hard to retain their players.

Nothing against him as a player but I just dont think Chaffy at 27 years fits in with the direction the club is heading in developing its youth to create a team for the future.

Didnt cousins deck kerr last year, what was all that about.

It was two years ago on mad monday. Cousins had his arm broken after being pushed down some stairs.

Fair enough.
Btw Coughlan is not for sale. I know he's a WA boy and a possible trade Coughlan for Judd was suggested last year but I'm happy with Coughlan staying at the tiges (wouldn't trade him for anyone) and I'm sure you guys would be more than happy to keep Judd.

honestly, coughlan is one of the only players in the league that i would willingly trade judd for, and even id only be happy then if richmond gave up alot more on top (good picks)

As someone else pointed out, I doubt we'd even consider trading Kerr. After living together for a year, Kerr and Judd are best mates and will be heading over to new york with another mate of theirs soon. Kerr and Cuz are also very good friends now after the debacle 2 years ago... although for the record, Cousins doesn't actually remember being pushed so we don't really know... or maybe I'm just biased :D

Judging by your location i'd suggest you are biased. ;)
But thanks for your info regarding the seemingly strong, united team you are supporting; finally there's a group of supporters that know their club well (a stark contrast to those disillusioned magpie supporters that I have to cope with in Melbourne so often). Good luck for next year! I hope we see you in the grand final.
Btw, any chance you'd give up Embley?
