Something that disapointed me last night was, not only was our midfield comprehensively beaten, but also the forward line pressure wasn't too good either. I thought Stevo attacked the ball hard and kicked a terrific goal from the boundary line in the first quarter. But apart from maybe him and also Birdman when he was up forward, I thought that the forward pressure was disapointing.

It is very noticable that when we have Scotty Welsh in the forward line, and even Chris Ladhams in the forward line, the pressure does improve.

I thought the Crows prided themselves on their forward line pressure, and last night, there was hardly anything.

Any thoughts??

I commented on that many times last night. Infact many times throughout the season.

IMO they couldn't have done any worse last night than to play Chris Ladhams in the absence of Scott Welsh.

In the third quarter Brett Burton added a little pressure up forward but not much.

Forward line pressure was not at its best last night but I thik we need to take that on its merits. The reason that we didn't have a forward last night to mark the ball apart from Burton and Stevens (only in the 1st quarter) is that Brisbane used HEAVY flooding tactics. They leave Lynch as the only player in their forward 50. Everyone else gets in their defensive 50. Since we don't have marking options the ball will come to ground and away go brisbane. With Akermanis, Lappin, Power and Johnson receiving qucik handball and breaking into the space carrying the ball. Lynch one out against Perrie is a recepie for murder. Thats what was used by Matthews last night and his dumbness Ayersy played right into Brisbanes Hands

Forward line pressure is not the reason we lost last night. We need to look at our coaching deparment and their tactics and game plan is flawed to no end:mad: Use the bloody corridor not the flanks. You will never win a final using the flanks and pockets.

Yeah we certainly missed scottys presence in the foward line last night. He always seems to give 100%.

Pitty that he will have to wait until next year to rack up that magical 100 games :( I thought the team might've wanted ti win it for him!
