Deledio played well I have read somewhere That he had been quiet he had 18 possies and kicked to goals would we be happy with that out of him this year? Terry Said also he would be used 50/50 Forward Midfield

Its bullshit the guy is a very good AFL footballer and can only get better lets let him get to the elite level before we start judging him so harshly. Benny Furs the amount of running bounces? Give me a break what do you think the game is about. He is the most exciting thing at the club then Tambling and then Cotchin.

I am a big fan of Deledio. Do you think he will play mainly as a forward or midfielder this year?

I was dying to see him in action but he was poor.

Didn't see him take a single running bounce.

That really is a bit harsh Benny
He was deep forward and we got flogged In the second 1/4 we only had 5 forward 50 entries and he managed to turn 2 of those into possessions

I still find it stange that it is claimed that he can not break a tag.
Last year he played 19 games and was in our best players on 16 occassions and he came 5th in the B&F
Not bad for a bloke that broke his hand missed three games and came back early and played a couple of rippers
Expectation can cloud judgement and I think that a lot of that goes on, on this board.
He is a very good player and is still improving. He will be a champion but he is not quite there yet but I feel this year he could well make that transition.
But at the same time expectations should be held in check.
If you look at his figures from last year you would see that he is above average in almost all areas but because we expect so much from him if he does not seemingly star for 4 quaters then he is considered to have had a poor game.
Give thye kid ago, lets not over inflate his talents to the point that he can never play to that level.
Shit, as a group of supporters we have been let down by false showings from players over the years and we really have a star in the making with Lids.

Thus endus the sermon!!!!!

wallace has played him all over the place, so he has become unsettled. its best to play him half back or half forward and not waste him up deep in the forward pocket where he would be out of the action.

sometimes whats best for the player isnt best for the team.

We need a big name up forward to stop our focus being solely on Richo.
Deledio is to good to ignore if he presents in a better position than Richo.
None of our other forwards command the football at this stage( I accept Brown is a big name but lead up forward is not his gig).

From there he can throw himself into the midfield in bursts.

I like this new role for him.

Who knows, if our mids can learn to pick the best option not the best player blokes like Schulz and Hughes might come good.

The way it looks to me is Wallace has accepted we can't deliver for shit into the forwardline so he's stacked our strongest marks in there to try and make up for it.

If Deledio isn't going to permanently play as a forward for the rest of his career there's really no point in playing him there - we should be giving more time and focus to the genuine kpf's in Riewoldt and Hughes.

We need Lids' pace and skill in the midfield and further experience for our genuine kpf's more than we need a dodgey quick fix which will get us nowhere.

I never said he wasn't going to be a star, he just played poorly against Geelong.

So did Browny and Cogs, doesn't mean they won't star at some stage this year as well.

I'm not even judging Deledio on high expectations, I saw him standing on the wing and floating on the outside of packs doing nothing many times. Weak. He was put into the middle several times and had little influence - again. When a player of his ability is just watching Geelong win the ball then run down the ground then I can't give him a rap.

Looking forward to a 60 goal season from Lids, but not confident he can become a top line midfielder until he is at least 23.

If he's gonna become a star he must adapt to playing in all sorts of positions. He has the ability to be any type of player with his physical attributes. I have no problem in him being played all over the ground. Versatility is what makes a player great IMO.
