Difficult decision

Hi all,

I have a predicament.

I participate in a fantasy footy competition online (www.webfooty.com), and I'm trying to trim my list from 35 back to 18 (a gruelling pre-season task).

I have a decision to make - I have to decide to delist either Travis Johnstone or Jarrad Waite. Both play the same position in my team and I can't afford to keep them both.

I'm considering Waite given his huge "upside" and potential, yet for all I know Travis Johnstone is set for a big year - but we've said that each of the last 2-3 years for him, and it's getting a bit old.

Any thoughts on this?

Travis Johnstone, plays a poor game and still gets heaps of the ball.

Sadly, I'm going to have to go with Travis Johnstone.

My reasoning is that it is pretty likely that I can snare Waite in one of our pre-season drafts, whereas Johnstone would be much more sought-after and would be harder to get...

Thanks for the advice. Word is Johnstone is finally ready to step up, so I'm giving him one last chance to prove his worth.

trimming your list for a keeper league hey mate? It's the great time of year for webfooty all this drafting and Luke's right - webfooty's the ultimate in fantasy footy, no shared players, full fixtures, trades, finals, everything.

tough call between Waite and TJ. I think long term Waite will be better, Johnstone year after year gets talked up "oh he's gonna be wonderful this year" from the Demons supporters, so don't bank on it - aside from occasional brilliance he doesn't deliver to his potential, or gets injured. Still he's not crap, and is handy enough to play on a wing in a webfooty side...

Jarrad Waite for sure. There's far more upside to his game than Johnstones.

Spot on! And I'm pretty much done.

This decision was really my last, I've decided on the other 17 players to retain on the list.

I'm going with Johnstone - even though Waite has a hell of a lot to offer and who knows, 2005 could very well be his year.

I think with Johnstone, he is seemingly gauranteed to be in the line-up week in, week-out. Waite, whilst he should get a regular game, is probably less assured than Johnstone of a place in his respective teams line-up.

Make no mistake, this is Johnstone's last chance.

I'm going to try desperately though, to claim Waite in the first draft as I know he has a lot of "upside".
