i have a dilemma and i cant really decide what to do about it
basically im studying 4 units in a ba. comm/econs degree, however i hate economics and am going to switch into a straight commerce degree at the start of next year.
i can carry over 8 units into the next degree and my GPA will reset to 0 on that part of my transcript however the units i have completed up until now will be on the the bottom of my transcript under the ba. comm/econs heading, and that heading will have a separate GPA.
the problem I have is that I am failing 2 units at the moment which will not count towards my commerce degree, however if i fail them they will still appear on my transcript as fail marks.
so my options are to #1 work really hard on the units and try and get the pass mark, however my other grades for the units that do carry over will not be as high because the exams are 4 days apart, and I will not be able to spend as much time studying for my business units.
the second option is to complete the unit but put all my effort into the units that will carry over to my commerce degree, this will not effect my GPA in my commerce degree but the grade will still be shown on the Commerce/Econs part of my transcript. i.e I will have most likely 2 fails and 2 higher marks from the 4 units.
the third option is to drop out of the 2 units that don't count and get a fail due to non completion on my transcript, as well as being awarded a 0 for the 2 units and my existing GPA dropping significantly. this will have no effect on my new GPA when i switch courses.
the real question I suppose is how 2 Fail grades in economics units will affect my job prospects for work in Management/Marketing areas.
so should I continue to put effort into these units at the expense of my marketing and management units?
or should I stop trying in economics? because even with huge amounts of effort I am failing badly.
any help would be appreciated
cheers
