Noted neurosurgeon and impact injury specialist, Caroline Wilson has flaunted her many medical degrees and post graduate specialities in an attempt to spare her beloved Richmond of facing a St Kilda team strengthened by the inclusion of Justin Koschitzke.
Her holier-than-thou article in The Age today reeks of desperation. She posits "Would the Saints put Justin Koschitzke's brilliant career at risk if they were out of the finals race?"
A cleverly worded but apocryphal question. She implies that Kosi's "brilliant career" is at more risk by playing him now than by playing him at some other time. She has no logical basis to make this implication. To the fairer-minded question: Would St Kilda play Kosi at this stage of the season if we were out of the finals race? The answer is a resounding YES. The unlikely scenario of St Kilda being out of the finals race aside, of course we would.
She seems to liken St Kilda including Kosi in the squad to a desperate third world country's army recruiter dragging kids away from their mothers, placing a rifle in their hands and loading into trucks for the frontline.
This is clearly not the case. Kosi has been given the best medical care available in Australia (on a par with the best in the world). He would not be considered for inclusion if there was some doubt.
Have faith in the St Kilda football club and the personnel they consult.
If Kosi is not ready - he will not play.
Multiple medical degree holders like Caro might disagree but the Saints will not jeopardise a quality player's career for short term gain.
Ultimately, the final decision to play comes from Kosi himself, who must weigh his own desire and that of the team's with the medical advice and his family's caution. He will make the right decision (Caro aside).
