Report from Inside Sport here.

What a joke. So what country is next if the poms are not up to scratch for the Dokic's? I am sure most people are rolling their eyes at this report.

Asylum from what? Oppressive planning permission??? If I were Jelena I'd want to get married too...so I had someone else to live with!

Well in the report i provided the link to, that cuddly bear that is Jelana's dad was quoted as saying: "We're disappointed with the way the Yugoslav state has treated us,"... "During the Wimbledon tournament I plan to apply for political asylum in the UK and move my family there."

:o

Hence my question. The only 'treatment' mentioned is the govt's refusal to let him build a mansion on public land. I really don't think there's a checkbox for that option on the "Why are you seeking political asylum in the UK?" paperwork...

Ahh, i misintepreted your post. Well all i can say is considering the instances of the Dokic's and their behavioiur, you shouldn't be surprised at the hissy fit they are cracking now. I cannot find a reasonable explanation for their asylum application, but i am not surprised they are applying for it.

That is just too funny for words, why are you seeking asylum?
A). oppression, B).in fear of your life, or C). they won't let you build a mansion & tennis complex on public land. :D

Had one for the US too...conspiracy or something, after the expensive cafe fish had sent him into a frenzy. His own daughter bans him and his wife from tournaments.

Jelena can join the ranks of English imports just like Rusedski has since the poms are crap at tennis save for Henman.

Well if he had problems with our media who are angels compared to the UK tabloid press he'll get exactly what he deserves over there.............:D

That is going to provide many hours of entertainment for Australians. :D

I hope they really stick the boot in..then again if she makes it through to a grand slam final and wins it..then it might turn in Damirs favour.

True, but has Jelena actually won anything since she started playing under the Yugoslav flag? I think we overrated her, and she has been found out for what she really is without us Aussies building her up.

In any case, only three woman can win a grand slam. The Williams sisters, daylight, then Lleyton's sister.

Yes, apparently this week she won a WTA event against someone from Thailand (but it wasn't not Tamasugan) sp?
