seeing my last post was removed, let me restate my position

it is an unconsiderate act, and you know what sort of person performs those sort of acts, dont you?

I have to do something to lighten up my days at uni.....plus the elevators i have to use are the most tempermental contraptions you will ever find... the walls are covered in writing of people being trapped in there....
its only fair.

I only press the button that takes me to the right level. I am not as stupid as some ppl are in here.

Actually, she's right.

She's not as stupid as some people in here.

I don't push all the buttons in the lift.

When i have a break at uni, I sometimes take a chair into the elevator and push the buttons for people when they get in. Gets plenty of weird looks, and gets me a few laughs without really getting on anybody's nerves.

Pushing the elevator button on purpose is like pushing the button at the pedestrian crossing at traffic lights and walking away. I hate it when people do that and I'm in the car waiting at the lights. That really annoys me.
i swear some council bludgers must think its funny by installing lights on pitwatter road next to a side street, and programming them to turn red every 30 seconds at 4:30 in the morning when there isnt another car within cooee.

Every time I get in an elevator it involves having a dark fantasy where a) I have to climb out of the booth and shimmy up the cable to safety, and b) where I have to jump at exactly the right time in order not to be splattered when the elevator slams into the ground.

Then there's that Damien Omen angle where the electric cables fall through the roof and slice you in half... that I'm not crazy about either.

I hate it when it happens to me but when it happens to others it seems fun!

Pushing the lift buttons - I used to think that was funny and amusing, then I turned 10.
As for the traffic lights, I think it's fairly normal practice to press the button but if there's a break in the traffic before the walk signal appears to cross without waiting.

Question for the author of this thread - have you ever been stuck in an elevator with all buttons pressed, and you are already late for an important meeting?
I have. It sucked.
As for pushing the 'door close' when someone is running for a lift, thats like purposly walking slow when someone behind you wants to catch a leaving train, or standing in front of an "8 items or less" q with a full trolley of groceries. Mean spirited and anti-social attitude.

Instead of pressing the "Close Door" button when people are trying to get in, I sometimes press it when I leave the elevator. It is fun racing against time yet not annoying, and does others a favour in saving their time. ;)

I don't push all the buttons in a lift (scared it might malfunction or something) but I do hate it when the doors have already closed and then someone presses the button for them to come in.

For me, once the doors are closed, you have missed the boat and will have to wait your sweet time.

unfortunately though the sensors in the door will open them once you walk through. unless theyre some really dodgy lifts were talking about here.

Having a big sign in the elevators at uni saying "jumping up and down will cause the elevators to **** up" (or something along those lines) was probably not a good idea. It's a uni for godssake.:p

I used to live in an apartment tower, and the lifts don't have sensors.
