There's some very different opinions on this board regarding this bloke. Best 22, adequate depth, great form, shit list clogger, trade bait etc have all been thrown around.

So what do we do with him? He's best 22 for now it seems and appears to have jumped Schofield in the pecking order.

Personally I'd give him the 1 year deal that's been talked about, but I'd have him as depth. I want Schofield to slim down and go back to the running defender he was in 2011-2013. Hopefully Barrass improves his game enough to be second KPD in line behind McGovern. Or Schofield doesn't slim down and Barrass stagnantes a little, in which case Emac is best 22 next season.

His kicking can be suspect but he actually can use both sides - a rare commodity in our team. And be is very good 1 on 1. Of course in today's game, how much does that count for?

Is prone to brain farts. If we can limit his brain farts to 5 per year id be happy.

Either way Id say best 22 and keep.

Keep on a much reduced contract for one year.
If he gets a better/longer offer elsewhere then so be it.
Good depth and back up at the very least
If he stays give Gorter the flick from the rookie list and free up a rookie spot.
 
keep but only for depth... he should not be in our best 22. The bloke can't kick or mark, two vital skills for a backman. Would rather Nelson or Schofield, these two players are not big markers like emac but they can offer us speed.... something that is of great value.
 
Some club might make a play for him. The pies could make a play for him.

Are you guys serious did you not watch the game?? Apart from his kicking he was the most smartest defender we had. He rarely losses a 1 on 1 knows how to spoil unlike barrass. Goes third up and punches to ground.

Hes essentially holding our defence since he is FB. He is playing like darren glass bar his kicking.

You guys are just looking through a tinted sunglasses. Just because he doesn't take marks and stand out doesn't means Barras is better.

The less you notice Emac the better. If people aren't kicking to his opponent hes doing a good job defending.

Your idea of what makes a good defender is flawed ever since we made the web. Darren glass/Dustin Fletcher was never a good marker but he was damm good defender. Why? Because he knows how to defend aka stop opponents from scoring.

In reality what should happen is EMac should be on best foward. Gov and Yeo and Barras help out and intercept.

Kicking is a fair chunk of the game though no? Especially considering how often teams switch the ball these days and Mackenzie often finds himself as the deepest player.
 
I always thought Emac was a good mark its just he chooses to go with the spoil more often due to it being more reliable and he is actually defending instead of playing off his man.

I think we have enough decent kicks in our defence to cover him.

He gets ok kicks 8/10 times. But most of the time he just handballs it to a better kicker which is viable

Yeh it's mainly when he's under a bit of pressure, you just kind of cringe when he gets the ball and there's no one near him to help out.
Defensively he's been very good.

I remember in 2014 emac was a decent kick and his left kicks found targets more often than not. The fact that he is using the left seems like he has regained confidence in himself. I do get nervous when he gets the ball but i would still like to see him use that left when it is absolutely safe to do.
 
Definitely keep

Underrated mark, good spoil, still has toe, disciplined, less prone to brain explosions and giving away undisciplined free kicks

Not a very reliable kick but is surrounded by some elite kicks so its not a big deal

Agree he shouldnt be in the top 15 at our club in terms of salary
 
Keep. He's taken his time to find his feet again which is understandable.

But his intercept marking is underrated, he is relatively quick for his size and doesn't get pushed out of contests easily.

I'm not convinced Schoey is gone, either. I don't think he would be in any different position to us anywhere else- but offers some depth should we have another run of bad luck circa 2015.

So you said he can't kick or MARK and then you said Nelson or Schofield aren't big MARKERS like EMac??
Anyway he's played pretty well the last 6 weeks so I say keep for sure.
