Bentick is probably more valuable to our team than Russel and Houlihan. Watching last nights game against Geelong, it was pleasing to see the level of defensive and forward pressure the guys put in, and Bentick, like Eddie Betts is an excelent tackler and definitely gives us grit, unlike Russel and Houla, who always get easy footy. Bentick creates opportunity for better skilled players to mop up.

There is a lot wrong in this post.

Firstly, JR has a great defensive game. Definitely in our top couple of players in that respect. Secondly, a player a player with as much class as Houlihan is always going to be of great value. Teams require balance. Not everyone needs to be an inside/hard-ball/high-pressure player....perhaps compare houla to mark williams at the hawks. Very very valuable. hmmm.....thirdly, there are probably 5 players in the competition that Bentick could actually chase down and tackle.....Lade, Blake...anyone else ???...I realise that he has a great tackle, but comparing his pressure to that of Betts is wrong. Betts' pressure is backed by his speed. Bentick's tackles are always in close which i don't think is as effective. Finally, in a team with midfield as it's greatest strength I don't think adding an average player (bearing in mind, with zero versatility) to that midfield could be considered as adding value.

Im not anti-Bentick at all. But I think I am being realistic in saying that he is going to struggle to play many games this year if we have a relatively injury-free year....and expect a lot of goal-assists from Houla this year...i'm confident they will utilise his breathtaking skill.

I have no understanding of where all this Russel love comes from.

Bentick averages the most tackles in the team by a mile, he is great in and under, certainly a keeper for team balance. They can't all be soft receivers.

We need a Bentick style player in our starting 22. He's always the first guy to get the ball and if he cant get the ball he tackles the guy with it (provided the guy with it is an opponent) If we can have a midfield with Bentick, Hadley and Murphy playing the hard in-and-under roles we can move Judd to a move receving role where he can run and carry along with Stevo, Simpson and Grigg. We then can play Gibbs in the Mr.Fix-it role where he does everything.

If we dont play Bentick (like last year) and Hadley falls to injury we are forced to play Judd as a more in-and-under player where he is less effective. We are also required to play Carrazzo on the ball when is best postion is behind the ball (thats where he won his b&f)

Also, playing Bentick allows us to not play Russell and Wiggans which will only benifit our team.

Anyone know what's happened to AB? He hasn't been named in any NAB match so far... Would have thought this would have been a good opportunity for him.

No chance he will get a game this year

Did this team quickly hope I didnt miss anyone but he is not even close
