Richmond gets a lot of shit for their drafting, even lots from this board and Tiger supporters for some awful picks.
But the last few years have been more than superb and the main reason we are into a Prelim (along with developing them well)
Just look at out late pick and rookie draft picks from the last few years.
2013 -
National draft: Lloyd - Pick 66
Rookie draft: Miles - Pick 27
2014-
National draft: Butler - Pick 67
Rookie draft: Short - Pick 11, Castagna - Pick 29, Lambert - Pick 46
2015-
National draft: Markov - Pick 50, Broad - Pick 67
Rookie draft:
2016-
National draft: Graham - Pick 53
Rookie draft: Stengle - Pick 6
Thats 10 players in the last 4 drafts from pick 50+ and rookie drafts that are either in a team thats made a Prelim or pushing for a spot in it.
Wasnt long ago that we struggled to pick reasonable players in the 2nd round consistently, let alone 3rd + 4th + rookie drafts.
Not sure if drafting strategy has changed or player development is better but well done to everyone involved.
