Fergo= Fletcher?

Don't know if Fergie would have the same kind of effect as Fletch, definitely doesn't have the raking boot. He should just be left in the gym for the entire pre-season.

Fletcher is a superb defender but we've had enough defenders that are decent at stopping 2nd and 3rd best forwards. We need a Rutten, Scarlett or Glass type.

You're joking, right?

Nah, im not. I didnt say fergo will be as good or is as good, but i believe he has the same body type to play the same kind of role.

If you mean play like Fletcher as one of the best full backs of the last decade then he won't, he isn't strong or clever enought to do it. If you mean play like Fletcher as a rebounding defender, he can rack up touches but his kicking isn't great so I'd prefer Bizzel in that roll. If you're playing a loose defender it needs to be someone who's pretty good. I'd be more inclined to compare Ferg with Kepler Bradley unfortunately.

As an aside I see a backline like this as a good one for the future
B: Whelan Carroll Bell
HB: Frawley Rivers Ward/Bizzel/Bartram/Wheatley/Petterd

Hell no.
He turns 26 in September.
Good average player at best. He doesn't have the pace required to make up for his lack of muscle.

its not the body type that makes him good, if anything being lanky is a disadvantage for him.. fletcher is only good because he reads the play better then any other defender... glass and scarlett have strength to back them up which gives them an advantage, fletch's advantages come in his ability to read the play and his long kicks.. thats why sheeds will always try to play him as a loose man because he will know where the opposition will kick it to.. you cant teach that, beleive me its been seen with kepler bradley...

I hope so, he's 25 years old though. Think he did ok today
Yeah, he did, good enough to make the round ranking bests. I had to look twice. No, it's not a typo. Of course he was "where the ball was". If he could make that type of contribution on a regular basis you'd keep him. Trouble is he struggles to play more than a few in a row before injury.
