Some of your points are valid. However he is not consistently performing to the superstar level that his talent most certainly warrants. This is more to do with his self control than it is his opposition.

Depends what you class as consistency , Fev hasn't kicked the big bag every week but he has done all the little things very consistently which he never did in the past such as the chasing and forward pressure.

He is also still leading the Coleman medal and would have been further in front if not for the heel injury early on.

Everyone has there own opinion on FEV but team wise I think he is performing like a superstar. :thumbsu:

It was good that Fev did not get too distracted by Cornes and Brogan but focused on the job at hand but with a desperate need to rub their noses in it. And the best way to do that was to kick goals and win the game.

If he didn't try all those "outlandish" things then do you really think he'd be the same player? I'd see him as a Anthony Rocca type if he only relied on marking and kicking goals rather then playing with flair and attitude.

The likes of Steve Johnson, Fevola, Davis and Juddy at times play on instinct and won't change for the sake of some guy on the internet.

Love Fev or hate him, he brings a lot to the plate... How you take the whole package will solely rely on the way you view footballers. People or robots.

FWIW i think he has been harshly treated by the media this year when he puts his hand up or looks at the umpire for a free or if his man runs off him. He is a superstar and we should all be applauding him for what he has brought to the team this year.
It doesn't have to all one way.

Fev has copped criticism this year when it has been due.

I think too much is made of his appealing to umpires, because in past years he has been guilty of complaining to umpires abour kicks while the play was still going on.....most notably vs Collingwood where the ball almost hit him in the back of the legs while he was giving the umps a spray. Media love follow up stories. He has to wear it.

If his kicking were on track this year he'd be in career best, both with his game and his attitude. He has had a couple of weeks where he looked like he'd rather be somewhere else, but his last 3 weeks in a row have been excellent, and if he can continue that into the Dees, Crows and finals we are in for a treat.

I'll admit to a love hate realtionship with Fev.........he just needs to maintain his attack on the footy........try to bring his teamates into it (a couple of snaps on Sunday should have been given off to others for easy goals)........and he needs to help Setanta become a better forward.

The better Setanta becomes, the easier it gets for Fev.:thumbsu:

Ditto. I sware I love the bloke when he's on song, but sometimes I get so frustrated when he has one of "those" days. Fact is though, we can't really change him and we have to accept what he does. Absolute superstar on his day, does things that most people can't even try and attempt. (See vs Richmond 2nd time around. Still can't get over THAT goal).

On a positive note, loving his defensive pressure of late. Bloody awesome:D.

still think that some of his work ethic is because of selfishness/arrogance (ie tackle/chase), but not really worried about that. he can be as selfish as he wants if it means he kicks a bag and does all the right things. we seen how he went about it last game last year against hawthorn... did everything he could to get that extra last goal for 100. somewhat like g abblett snr. it's hard to imagine him not thinking of doing things to get personal recognition above serving the team. still, that's just my perception and i could be way off base.
earlier in the year when he had a couple of no-goal games i felt like someone should remind him that (with buddy off the boil) the coleman was there for the taking. get him to think about playing for the adulation he can get through team-oriented things instead of sulking.

Chad Cornes taunting Fev in the week leading up to the game seemed a bit like the Poms trying to "verbal" Steve Waugh.........idiots......plays right into his hands.;)
