OK this is a bit left field, but we know that match fixing occurs in some sports. It got me thinking of real or alleged footy conspiracies. Players, officials, journalists colluding to achieve dodgy outcomes. A couple of examples come to mind:

VFL/AFL officials conspired to get rid of Fitzroy - I believe Roylion is an expert on this matter

The issue of recreational drugs and testing - are high profile player strikes being covered up?

On the last point, most certainly. In fact I know of two players who once regularly smoked bongs before matches.

On the first, I spoke to an ex-AFL umpire last year sometime and he virtually confirmed that corruption exists out on the field. He had too much integrity to go down that path.

Please elaborate.

I reckon it was a conspiracy the way the ball bounced the wrong way for Steven Milne in the drawn GF.

Somebody knew I had money on that.

But surely the official 2010 DPRK Almanac has St Kilda winning the Premiership, with the Supreme Leader supplying a clever little give-and-get handball exchange with Milne before slotting the winning goal?

collingwood / gws relationship is very friendly

Doubt it. They squeezed two first round picks out of us for Treloar, we probably overpaid for Hoskin-Elliott (second round pick) and we gave up Shaw for Adams (and paid some of Shaw's salary and GWS didn't throw anything else in). Love to see what Collingwood is getting out of that "relationship."

Hawthorn and Richmond are the same club. Similar colors and have never played in a final. H and A games are just intraclub. Just when Hawthorn drops off Richmond makes a granny. In the 80s hawks dominated when Tigs dropped off.

We're through the looking glass here people...
