Forward Line Set up

Horses for courses I say, play G when the opposition suits him!

What, Gehrig plays against Richmond, Carlton, Melbourne, North and Freo over here? That's not very many games!!!

Glass, Harris (or his alter ego Lake), Rutten, Wakelin, Fletcher, Scarlett, and even Barry (in some games) have good records against Gehrig.

Playing him here and there won't help the forward line gel. He has been shocking interstate and should not travel, but if he cannot work hard off the ball and/or develop some good tactics with the other forwards and John Barker we will do nothing this year.

Who is responsible for improving kicking skills, especially goal-kicking skills? Is it Barker?

I think we debated this on the John Barker thread. Some thought it is the player's responsibility, and others (like me) think that's where the specialist coaches come into play.

Clearly there is little strategic tactics going on with the forward set-up, so they need to be doing more to ensure we convert > 75% of set shots within 40m, and ditto for running shots within 40m where there is minimal angle (we miss far too many).

Nah, leave Gehrig at FF (with Casey).

Just felt like quoting myself.

Much happier with the set-up. Kosi forward, Roo & Chucky presenting. Milne irritating, rotate the Dals/Balls etc thru the forward structure, and ensure the bearded one is watching from the stands.

Gehrig is still our best kick for goal, but it just doesn't work with him and Kosi.
