That got your attention, didn't it?

I've been working on these boats of late, and almost every night of the week in this period we have a christmas party. Now, the deal is that we provide as much alcohol as the patrons can consume. This leads to some interesting situations. I am amazed at how many people will drink to the point that they completely embaress themselves. Last week, one woman vomited all over the cabin of the boat, and managed to, well, ***** all over the cabin too. Now I'm up for a big night now and then, but I think if I get to that state, something's wrong. It might be acceptable for an 18 year old, but in people in their 30's and 40's, I think is disgusting. Particularly women. Nothing worse than a middle aged bird who has too much and suddenly thinks she is sexually attractive. A bit of dignity please.

So what would/do you do in that situation? The boss is paying, as much alcohol as you can drink... how far do you go?
 
Well I got very very drunk at my work Christmas party (as always) and thankfully I wasn't the only one, and I was sick but due to something I ate not alcohol. :(

So does that count????

Only beer and wine were paid for by the boss, and I don't drink either of those so I got drunk from my own pocket........I think the night was made a LOT more interesting from getting drunk that's all I can say. :D
 
I declined to attend this Friday's work Xmas do, for precisely the reason some of your patrons should have declined theirs.

Free grog is great, sensational actually... but making a complete anus of yourself in front of all your work colleagues AND bosses/directors... that's not so great (especially when it's already reasonably well known you enjoy a few quiet ales).

Good if you can limit yourself and say "stop" after x amount of beers, but when it's free and the weather is hot, it's a lot harder. I'm sure I'll miss out on a bit of fun & hijinx at the Xmas do, but I think I've made the right decision.

Yup, probably the best bet there champ. I mean, as much as self control in regards to booz is one of your strong points and all.... :p

Didn't say I wsan't planning to get poo-faced that night... probably do it at home though. :)
 
I went to the Essendon best and fairest this year. The waiters kept coming around and refilling the glasses so it was hard to keep track of how much you had actually drunk. Lucky I had to leave fairly early cause I had to work the next morning, otherwise I think I would have got well and truly sloshed.
 
I didn't drink much at all at my work Chrissie party. Hardly the people you want to get drunk with.
I just stood there, didn't do anything stupid and left as soon is it would be seen as acceptable.

I did however gain an appreciation for how annoying drunk people are when you are sober.

However, if it was a mates party and the grog was free....
 
Was about to start a thread on work chrissy parties actually. Think i did one last year as well. Am always interested to compare. I can't believe we have to pay for our own dinner and as if that wasn't shock enough...heaven and behold (that a word?) we have to work back two nights in a row this week to make up for it (which doesn't make sense overtime this week when the party is on Friday meaning all our work will be piled up and still there the following Monday) then to top that off it will be 39 degrees and had i not agreed to this ridiculous thing i coulda been off for half the day and down the beach :( Still it could be interesting, we have a very loud 'out there' oldish chainsmoker lady who takes great delight in kissing all the poor spunky young bosses around this time of year.

I have a end of year work do on Sunday at one of the restruants in Burswood.

I'll have a good time no doubt, but I strongly doubt I will drink too much though, I mean really, you have to work with/for these people.

I'll have a few, but I know my limits.
Get a good free feed, have a few drinks, go home and enjoy 2 weeks away from the bastards. ;)

Well, from what I've seen of business types having a night of it in posh bars, it ain't pretty when both men and women get really stupid drunk. Seriously who would want to lower themselves in front of the people they then have to work with!!

God, the jokes and jibes you would have to live with forevermore.

I prefer to get rat arsed around people who won't use it against me later on.

I'm with darky, free beer is fantastic and if it were a do with my mates i'd hook in like nothing else and get ****faced more than likely. But work is different, when i worked for wages i never used to hang out with anyone from work ever, and if i went to a xmas party i only had one light and left, just to be polite. Never liked mixing work with pleasure.
 
Well I don't know..........I work in child care so the atmosphere at work is pretty laid-back anyways........so maybe it's a bit different?

Anyways we have MORE work drinks this week, a farewell for one of the girls and I expect that a few people will probably get ****ed at this one. :p Not me though I think I'll just have a couple and leave.
 
hmm its not like that at my work where if u got stupid drunk that they'd laugh at you. They'd just laugh with you about it on Monday i reckon. Pretty good group who recently all went off to a wedding and have done things outside of work together then they all just discuss it during the week and have a laugh no backstabbing or bitching at all really. Great place to work.

Not a big fan of mixing work with pleasure either like Deej, would much rather make a fool of myself and talk **** to my mates than people who have to ability to remind me of any of my antics 9-5 5 days a week. Generally have 4-5 cans at workdrinks then bugger off.
 
I work with a pretty good bunch of people and we enjoy having a beer together. We hit the pub most friday nights.

Xmas show this year was a beauty with everyone, eating drinking and dacning the night away.

Its cool to get a little sloshed but not to get so ****ed you don't know what you are doing or saying.

You spend so much time at work I think its important to have good relations out of work.

Then again, I did marry a girl I worked with:D
 
I went to my best friends work party on sunday.. was great :) i could drink as much as I wanted and didnt have to worry about what people thought of me.. I wont be seeing them again :D
i also noticed that the people she works with are so much nicer than the people at my company!!!
 
Sakata biscuits, lots of beer and foolish running around a pool table - baaaaaaaaaaaaad combination.
