Is there still room for him in this team? I know he has his detractors but he also has his fans, the coach included. When he comes back from injury who does he replace in the side?

I think he will have trouble coming back in. It really depends if Rhys can keep playing the way he has been. Its only one game in, anything can happen.

I have to disagree with ya there Tess.I think it will be very difficult to drop young Shaw this year.He adds a lot of pace to our backline.I think Freeza will really struggle to get back into the line up particually with Lokan also showing great form.

I spoke with Freezer yesterday at a Willy practice match, he looks good ..... well has good as he does .... and I think they are similar players. The question will be, can Young Shaw keep it up?

I think he can, at least to the extent that he'll be doing as good a job as Freeborn could. Freeborn then gives us a bit of depth in that position.

freeza is the better option IMO. far more versatile than shaw and an experienced head. still, shaw hasnt really been given the opportunity to show us if he's as versatile. great to have some depth at the club.

well at this stage id have
IN: Licuria, Cloke, Presti
OUT: Walker, Holland, and one of Scotland, Lonie, Betheras or Shaw (unlucky i know)

thats with burns still one week to serve, and assuming Josh is still out.

Really shows how well our depth is.

Should have been traded in the off season with BK and Steiner in a package deal for a draft choice.

He is not in MM's plans this year, especially after picking up Williams and Woey. It has created an opportunity for the likes of Shaw, Holland, Lonie O'Bree etc to entrench themselves in the side if they are good enough.

I disagee ....

Fraser and Presti' won't play, so I heard.

IN: Lucuria, Cloke
OUT: Holland, and maybe Shaw I think.

Should be an 'interesting' game against carlton :D

Freeborn has only negative improvement left in him.

I'd rather see Shaw given a chance and Richie Cole & Lokan are other contenders with (especially in Cole's case) significant improvement left in them.

As it stands, they are all at least as good as him.

i think the advantage of playing shaw is we need him to get experience and if he keeps playing like he is then he will be a valuable asset in a couple of years. freeborn however is getting old!

i dont really like cole, he gets the balla fair bit but he doesnt look where hes kicking it and it goes to the opposition a fair bit.

Freeborn will be a barometer for our season.

If he is an automatic selection in our starting eighteen (injury excepted) then we have gone backwards.

I'm probably in the minority but i've always been a Freeborn fan.

I like his versatility, has good disposal and runs with the ball in drawing opponents to him.

He may not be in our best 18, but definitely in our best 22.

NOT LIKE BOWDEN DOGGA
WE WILL GIVE YOU BOWDEN FOR A PACKET OF TWISTIES
I THINK FREEBORN IS OK.
YOU WOULD KNOW DOGGA
GO THE MONTS

Get off this board you Richmond scum - hehe....nice post fella.

Unlike the Kangaroos, we Magpies are not so "destructive" in our response to other clubs supporters.

I saw Bowden was up to his old tricks on the weekend in putting his teammates "under the pump" with his "quality" disposal.
Oh dear. And Frawley would like 3 Joel Bowden's....mmmm

I'm a fan too. He has that certain "sneakiness" about his game that makes him more valuable than McG, Holland, etc. Was OK in finals last year, and I always feel more relaxed with him in possession of the ball down back than a few others.
