I don't know how they do it but it seems like even a big step up from the first one!!

I reckon it'll be very ordinary. I think it will be too focussed on special effects (which look fantastic judging by the trailer) and lose the storyline, which was the key aspect of the original.

I think you might be suprised.... AFAIK the original storyline for the Matrix movies was written with enough depth to cover 3 movies. Even the 1st script for the original movie had to be dramatically scaled back. It easily contained enough for 2 movies but they were unsure on how successful the movie would be so it was cut back to fit into 1 movie.
