Anyone know when the next generation of Mac RISC chips are coming out of Motorola or IBM? We seem to be falling further and further behind in clockspeeds versus the Duo of Evil.

The IBM 970 is APPARENTLY due late this year or early next (by that I mean they probably already have the chips, just not ready for widespread use in consumer machines)

What is it? Merely a quicker G4 chip or something really new, as the G4 chip was with its Altivec 128 bit engine?

Completely new, 65-bit chip, apparently. I'm a bit sketchy on details though, apple never likes giving out ANY information ahead of official announcements!
