Yeah sorry I know that people are getting sick of talking about his injuries, but I havent heard much over here on what his status is. All I heard is that his foot injury from last season prevented him completing pre-season. So just how long will he be out for? Will he be able to play in the first half of the season?

I don't exactly know, but i do hope that if he does come back, he would come back as a defender, maybe not in his first game, but would be eventually eased into CHB.

He plays better back than forward and there is Gardiner, McDougall, Hansen Lynch, Seaby either holding down key forward posts or pinch-hitting down the forward end of the ground.

I mean even Smith and many others will be coming next season and onwards to try and take positions up there in the forward line.

I reckon Travis Gaspar could be the answer at CHB, could you imagine him fit and playing well with Glass in a Back Duo to be reckoned with. Though this is all a dream with his bad luck in injuries.

Just a thought ey...

I've heard conflicting stories.

A few weeks ago, apparently he was coming along worse than expected and it was looking like it might be all over red rover for him.

I've heard a few whispers lately that things might not be so grim after all, and there may be some prospect of him being back in the WAFL at some point in the foreseeable future.

Would be very grateful if anyone could add anything more concrete?

Gaspar is finished.

WC supporters should bite the bullet and imagine a future without him. You're just torturing yourselves by discussing him as the potential answer at CHB.

We need to move on and start blooding other guys to hold down our KPs, CHB especially.

It's hard to say it but think your are right. We have waited for him for a long time and every time he seems to be ready to play he gets injured again. We can't keep wondering about when he will be back. We can't jepodise our chance at a Premiership by waiting for him to fill one of the key positions. We need to develop the other guys more as they may just be the one's we have been looking for to fill these spots. They look like the guys that will take us forward. If he doesn't play this year unfortunately I think his time is up.

The club has been rather quiet on his rehabilitation. Im not sure if no news equates to good news in this situation. If things were looking good I think we would have seen an article about him on wce.com.au by now. I think we will have to wait until they start putting the injury news up on the website, which they start doing after the first game I think.

His injury is fully healed.. but he is not ready to play because he hasn't had any man-on-man practice, let alone match fitness.

He has played only a handful of games over the last few years and has only just started running around with the squad. His injuries are fine.. but he isn't fit enough to run all day.. let alone play a full AFL game.

Once he gets his fitness up.. which shouldnt take too long because he is still in great physical shape in terms of his upper body, he will be back to the WAFL and should be back into the team after a month or two.

Sounds great but can you substantiate or verify these points?

Awesome news if true, but do you have a source for that?

I read somewhere that he was tracking along nicely and I was suprised he didn't suit up for Souths on the weekend. Not sure if he played reserves.

In other injury news Smith went in for his knee reconstruction this week.

Not telling you. :p

I read it somewhere in an article on West Coasts talls, If you read as many articles on West Coast as I do you would understand why I can't remember where I read it.

for reasons I've previously expounded, I seriously doubt that Gaspariffit will have a long AFL career.

His presence at CHB would be very welcome though. it'd be nice to see someone take a contested mark somewhere on the ground.

From 'Ask Woosha'

From Dave: Hey Woosha, I’m just writing to see how Travis Gaspar is going. I haven’t heard anything about him for a long time and was just wondering how he is coming along with his foot injury. Do you think he will play this year and, if so, where would he play?

JW: We have obviously taken a cautious approach with Travis, doing everything possible to ensure that when he returns he is able to string together a number of games of football. We will not rush him and we hope that he gets the opportunity to further his football career. If his strength of character to this point is any indication he will get through this testing period and become a very good player for it. Certainly I can’t think of anyone more deserving of finding on-field success given the amount of work he has put into it.

Doesnt sound too promising. Gotta feel for the guy, his time seems to be drawing closer to an end.

Translation: Travis is still crook, we all feel sorry for him, good luck in whatever he may pursue in the future.

Sadly I believe you're close to the mark, unfortunately Travis has a long history of leg problems that go back to when he played Colts football for South Fremantle. Hopefully he can regain his fitness.

Some news on Gaspar is that his foot injury is improving (he can run now which apparantly is good news......) and is expected to make a return in the mid year (id say he will be playing in the WAFL for a month before he was brought into AFL)......... But like everyone else I think its time to let him go.

I think this is probably his last chance. They have re-broken his foot and let it heal. If he breaks down again there really isnt much more than can do. Good luck to him with whatever happens.

If the team does let him go, what will happen? Do you truly think that another AFL team would want him after his injury riddled short career? He still is only 24. Why let him go after we've pumped a lot of funds into his rehabilitation - for the success at another club?
Keep him in the west, let him play another game in the blue and gold

Yeah I think he is worth another go. Im worried though the club is still tied where his best position is.

In the paper this morning it said he would be back playing WAFL in 6 weeks. Better than nothing.
