Good or bad name? Could have had Sharks, Stingrays, Marlins... but overlooked feedback and went with a name that doesnt really have any grunt, just more of a generic name, nothing supporters will be able to really get behind for mine. Id find it hard to scream out a chant with the Suns in it

Suns is good. Sharks wouldn't have been bad either.


Marlin's would've been worse than Dockers or Power.

Interesting with 15-19 in favour of bad name. I don't see whats wrong with it, it sums up the area which GC is in.

That's exactly my issue with it - it's a great advertisement for the GC as a location/holiday destination/whatever. What it doesn't do, for me at least, is represent a footy team. Feels like a simple, flimsy, franchise-y name - untangible, and just plain dreadful. The GCFC needs to be more than an advertisement for what the location itself is like if they want to succeed.

I can understand that, yeah. In a location where representing AFL is hard enough to succeed as it is, I get your point that the team needs an identity. I don't mind it for the pure fact that it sums up the Gold Coast, the weather up there and the atmosphere but yeah, it's not very footy related.
