I've been looking at previews of this game and it looks fantastic. I was just wondering who will be buying this game as I'm going to buy it on release date which is Thursday.

Don't think I'll be getting it unless the reviews tend to be awesome, actually looks a step back from what The Godfather was, which was a good fun open-world game, just lacked a few features too keep the longevity in the game, which this game hasn't really seemed to improve on, sure it adds a few things, but those things don't look like the right features to have added.

As I have said before, Mafia 2 is the mob game I am looking forward to most, as Mafia was brilliant.

How did you get it? Its not released yet is it?

The game doesn't have a street date and can be sold as soon as retailers get stock. A few EB stores around the country recieved their stock yesterday and began selling it then.

I probably won't buy it for another 2 - 3 months, i got the pc version a month after it came out. Got it a little more than half price off too (K-Mart software clearance FTW).

I picked up the 360 version last year at a Dick Smith software clearout (only $20!).

I still prefer GTA, but the first Godfather wasn't bad.

Has there been a release date confirmed for this yet? I have heard October but there seems to be some mystery around this game and it's progress.

From what I saw of it on 'Good Game' last night it looked decent. Can't believe it doesn't have a jump button though, given the nature of the game.

Not sure TBH haven't really been following it at all(Don't think there is any solid date yet), but I know that as long as it carries along the same lines as Mafia 1(And having the writing team from the first is a great start) then it will be just as brilliant as the first, if not better.

Understatement of the century!

Mafia was simply the best, I'm not sure about Mafia 2 though it seems to have gone for a more GTA like style. Not anywhere near GTA but it has relaxed a bit too much for my liking on it's realism, which is what was so good about it. Should be awesome though :thumbsu:

Ok, haven't played it much more than two hours worth, but its a good game for anyone who enjoyed the first one.

Adds a bit with the management of fronts and crime rings, and the world is pretty well designed etc.

But since recently beating GTA4 and the expansion for that on 360, and then trying to play SR2 again and now Godfather 2 - I'm really noticing the huge difference in quality between GTA4 and its competitors. I initially found SR2 to be more fun than GTA4, but on second attempt, and playing them within two days of each other - there really is no contest.

The reality, polish and graphical prowess in GTA4 makes it much more immersive, and the combat system is substantially better as well. As a result, I am finding it hard to enjoy SR2 again or GF2 because the combat is way too easy, yet clumsy, in both.

That said, GF2 is fun and the executions are great. One thing that is really annoying is that to upgrade your mafia crew the easiest way is to take them online (which holds no interest for me).

Will update my thoughts once I've played it more

Wh-What?

You can't compare Saints Row 2 to GTA IV.

Saints Row 2 is actually fun and has better storylines.

I had more fun with SR2 than GTA4, the first time through.

But GTA4 has better replay value and is just so much more polished. And I hope you were joking about the storyline.

I'm not joking.

Here's GTA IV.

You get off a boat. You kill rats for something to eat. You have a fat annoying cousin. You meet up with some ****head boss to do repetitive missions for him. You have to save your fat annoying cousin several times from getting the shit kicked out of him. Your fat annoying cousin cracks the sads if you don't go bowling with him every hour.
You try and catch a taxi ride but oh wait, you steal the taxi instead. Repetitive mission here. Repetitive mission there. Another repetitive mission.

Saints Row 2.

FUN. FUN. More FUN. Average mission. Engaging story that leaves you wanting more. Excellent mission. FUN. FUN and more FUN.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up.

I buy games to have fun.
