Recently my dad has hinted he would like an MP3 Player for Christmas. But I don't know which one to get him. One brand I have always trusted is iRiver. But their latest models don't look too good. Although I'm thinking of getting the T60 (If anyone has one please give me your thoughts on it). I definitely won't be getting him an iPod, that's for sure.

Any recommendations on what to get? He doesn't need anything over the top, 4gb should be plenty, doesn't need video playback.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have a look at that one, I have a 20gb Sony MP3 Player, and I know 3 ppl who have the little 1Gb versions, and none of us have had one bit of trouble yet. Good reliable and having software that makes the songs smaller in size allows you to put more songs on the player!

Good luck in your search! And well done on not getting an iPod! Absolute rip off pieces of ****!

Look at the Creative Line ups. They are quality. Oh and don't get an iPod just because everyone else has one... they are by far the most popular brand but no the best quality. iRivers aren't bad as well.

I have the 2Gb version of this player, and while the hardware is great (apart from the poor excuse for a screen) the sony sonicstage software annoyed me greatly with it's clunkyness. The obscure ATRAC format, and being unable to get songs off the damn thing, also disappointed me.
I ended up getting some JAVA software off the net that makes the thing work like an Iriver - I'm much happier with it now.

I have had 2 creative MP3 players over teh years and one last not even a year before ****ing up and the other lasted about a year and a half.

I am about to get a new mp3 player and i wont go near that brand.

Creative have also had MAJOR problems with its headphone jack. After a while nearly all sound is lost. do a general web search for more info.

The problem affected both my mp3 players so it is common.

DONT GET CREATIVE

Why wouldn't you get an iPod?
Relatively well priced and compatible with almost every thing, it's the leader.
I had a 2 gig Nano and I got my self an 80 gig Classic the other day.

Awesome bits of machinery :thumbsu:

I got a Creative Zen 20gb in 2005 and havent had a problem. Great little machine
