Wolfmother actually won - great, they represent Aussie music

They won for thier song "woman".

Beating 3 unique and innovative bands with their rehashed crap.
Tool
System of a Down
NIN

Biggest outrage since Metallica were robbed by Jethro Tull.

Note: Slayer also won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance.

Have very mixed feelings about this. As stated, it's good to see an Aussie Rock band winning one. But, beating those 3 is indeed a bit of a farce. And there are at least 10 Aussie rock bands that deserve these type of accolades heaps more....

i just struggle to understand how they can be classified with tool system of a down and nin, they are by no means hard rock like these other three, in comparison to those three they are like the wiggles, im not sayinbg they arent a great aussie rock band, but they should be in a different class. either way i dont care, rock isnt my thing, but its good to see the aussies winning some international fame.

How does My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas get a nomination let alone win a Grammy???!!!

How does the Black Eye Peas win anything? Seriously, some of the biggest acts in the US are a joke.

Yes, the Grammys and most award shows like them are rather crap.

But the mere fact it featured a reformed The Police performing live for the first time in a long time was enough to get me near hysterical! Still can find it on the net yet, but surely it wont be long.

Awesome :thumbsu:

and Metallica's b-side "Stone Cold Crazy" winning over Megadeth's "Rust In Peace" album (along with Anthrax "Persistence Of Time", Judas Priest "Painkiller", Suicidal Tendencies "Lights... Camera... Revolution") - that decision had me dumbfounded

Anyone know why they often choose songs and albums in the same category?

Absolutely agree that your example was also an absolute farce. Metallica were just as dumbfounded and embarrased by winning as the rest of the audience.
It seems that this decision was more a reaction to their earlier screwup than an actual rational decision.
It's unfortunate that Dave Mustaine was denied his due just because Metallica got ripped off a year or 2 earlier.

Best Male Vocal Performance was won by Bob Dylan, of all vocalists, this is not a misprint. Kudos to the Dixie Chicks mentioning the ubitiquous talents of Mike Campbell and Rick Rubin. Attention, controversy, marketability and mostly souless money making racket will get you awards worth as much to the credible musician as a grain of sand

Seriously, who wants to live in a world where Wolfmother can beat Tool for an award? What kind of cosmic joke is that?
