I am thinking of buying a PC from an organization called Green PC. They sell second hand reconditioned PC's cheap to people with a health care card.



I have a few questions.


1. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about Green PC?

2. What sort of computer should I be thinking of getting? I have fairly basic needs I just want to word process and use the internet. I wont be running any games that take up lots of space or anything.

Never heard of them

For what you need you should be able to get a reasonable PC for a good price

Say, Pentium II 450ish
64-128MB RAM
Basic Video/Sound Card
External Modem

Something like that would cost you a couple of hundred, no more... the Word Processing software may cost a bit though - unless you manage to source a copy from someone *ahem* externally

They look pretty good.

One of those Pentiums1's with monitor keyboard everything is going for only $90, not a bad deal.
 
Fo word processing and internet, would probably go for:

PIII 550
128MB RAM
8GB Hard Drive

I wouldn't go for anything slower as you will end up using the computer for something else as well....
