Would that be the same with a sore achilles?

Nah. I trained with my sore achilles and it only took 3 months after the season finished to heal (I hurt it in preseason training).

Go right on ahead an play I reckons.

if youve strained your hamstring tendon how do u recover from it
just ice it or rest it
if u keep training with it what can happen
Ok i take it you are a football player who has strained a hamstring. First of all you need to ice it for 2 days. Ice it means put a bag of ice on the strained area for 20 minutes then take it off for at least 40 but possibly 60 then ice again for 40. Do this for 2 days. Then come and see me. I am a muscle expert and call myself either a remedial masseur or a soft tissue manipultion specialist. I can fix your problem and you must listen to everything I tell you.

Under no circumstances see a physiotherapist. If you do see a physio you will have hamstring trouble for the rest of the season. Just come and see someone like me and you will be back playing in 3 to 4 weeks. If you play any sooner then you will be out for another 3 to 4 weeks .

Just remember one thing. Your hamstring is about to tear. Once it has torn it will never be as strong again and will mostly likely tear in the same spot again.
Once you have torn a muscle cell it is torn and you can never ever regrow a muscle cell. It becomes a weakness.
How do i know all this. I do it for a living and get sick of young footballers who have injuries who play and end up with scarring.

Ice it. Remember the Rice method.

....come and see me....i like it.;)

Well - I snapped the achilles back in mid December. Lets just say I am currently learning how to walk properly again, but its taking its sweet time.

Had the full operation - Won't be back on the park until December this year.

You don't want this one, I wish I just broke my leg to be honest.... Rest will help.

Get up very early on an icy morning and sprint 400 metres without stretching - that should do the trick.

Nah seriously - i would ice it for the first couple of days and then rest it. Recover by walking.

You might be an expert, but i'm someone who has strained my hamstring and i did everything you advised against and i am fine.

I would recomend ice... then seeing a physiotherapist like i did. They will give you better advice as to what to do to get your hammy right, as well as massaging the injured area to help it heal.
In my case i was advised to miss 2 matches of hockey, (3 weeks), but i missed one and played a match whilst still slightly injured. I was however very careful, in that i was careful when changing direction, and when sprinting, (easily done when playing full back). I also brought myself off with 10 minutes to go and iced my hammy immediately. It was a risk, but a calculated one, that payed off. If you were playing footy i wouldn't advise playing whilst injured but other sports like cricket etc you can manage if you are allmost right but its a risk.

see a physio tho, i had to do special stretches and run through's that got me ready to play, they will do you more good than a masseus

What about shin splints. Had them since rnd 4 and this weekend we have the GF. I am glad it is GF cause they get harder and harder to run on each week. Anything you can do to get rid of them???

Rest, ice, calf stretches & exercises that strengthen the muscles involved with plantar and dorsi flexion.

Do a google search. There is ******** loads of info out there re: Shin splints (aka Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome).
