I posted this on the main board thread on this topic, while it's not in regards to the homophobic slur, it's still about ugly fans.

At the Carlton vs Richmond game after Houli must have done something wrong disposal wise I don't know didn't see the play. Someone at the top of there lungs yelled out "Houli you Fu**ing MUSLIM". To my surprise I think they were also Richmond supporters. Nothing was done about it except the bourbon fueled fart i dropped on them which they choked on and they were very loud about it and I laughed my ass off.

But really even there muslim shouting should not be tolerated regardless of who they support.

I'm not sure what happened 100% but I read that it was the players who reported it?

Pretty poor if true that no one in the crowd did anything about it. Shame that this crap is still happening. It's 2015, come on mates.

Yep I'd like to see stronger behaviour standards . By all means support & barrick for your team. Don't need to hurl personal abuse & swear. Especially when there are young kids around.

At the game on Saturday, someone behind me (Richmond supporter) yelled out "Piss off back to Carlton Grigg, you'd fit in better there". Couldn't help but smile at that.

But on the slur business, really poor form from our supporter abusing Lin Jong - that kind of business has no place either within the Tiger army or at the footy. Same goes to the Bulldog fan and Rance (this is the first I've heard of it).

I Agree i hate that stuff no need for it...and as much as we dont like some of the umpires decisions the amount of abuse they cop needs looking at too...in the end they are people and no one deserves abuse like that...no need for it

When it happened i thought it was number 28 (Hunt) but it makes sense it was 18 (Rance) It was clearly visible on telly.

The TV news made a big deal of it saying the AFL still needs to eradicate this behavior, yes its unacceptable but with a total of 605,931 fans through the gate 1 confirmed and 1 (the Dogs allegation) unconfirmed incident to me doesnt show a massive problem.

The club has published an article on Richmondfc regarding the incidents.

"As a Club, we take any suggestion of racist behaviour very seriously, and we followed it up accordingly," said Richmond CEO Brendon Gale.

"While no action was taken in this case, it is a reminder that any such behaviour is totally unacceptable and as a Club we will not tolerate it.

"Lin Jong is a fine young player and we should be celebrating the diversity he brings to our game."

The Club can also confirm that a Richmond player sought out security and identified a supporter making homophobic remarks during the game.

Victoria Police and security attended, and the person was subsequently removed from the venue.

There is a low percentage of the human race that are just flat out idiots, while i hope the 2 offenders get rightly banned i will focus on the fact that out of all the tigers there we only had one moron and as a whole we are bloody good and a well behaved bunch of blokes.

Not just at the AFL this happens at local leagues and country leagues, this past week i heard one player call another a defamatory term within 5 metres of the ump.

I would say its a shame that the media focuses on the bad minority without ever giving any credence as to how much things have improved or about the many decent people like ourselves, actually i spose im not very decent, i run amok and drink alot but im not a racist or homophobic

The terrorist comments are the ones that are cpmmon and get thrown around a fair bit, those aren't on. Have to admit I'm mostly concious of those calls because I made a similar one in 2011. Didn't mean it as an insult, was plain misunderstanding on my behalf, felt guilty after I sat down and thought about it though.

yep and he looked like he was genuinely sorry...and the bulldogs player accepted his apology ...so all good... takes a man to come forward and publicly admit his mistake....

Calling him an EFFING MUSLIM is said in an unfriendly way. It's like if a guy in a muslim outfit yelled at the top of his lungs "you EFFING CHRISTIAN" , no doubt about it he'd be locked up as a terror suspect. Lets get real about it, those guys were belittling houli for being a muslim, it was not said as a friendly banter, it was meant to be hurtful. There is no sugar coating it.
