Few years later. Girl goes to england. Girl is brainwashed by another girl........ called Germaine Greer. Girl becomes man-hating FEMINAZI. Yes my friends, another impressionable, unsuspecting aussie gone to the mother country looking for work and has been sucked in by the insidious English man-hating sub-culture. Don't believe me? listen to the names again. Waikiki (AWWWW ^_^).....Howling Bells.........Howling BALLS!!!.......if that is not a veiled critique at the male gender's insatiable need to copulate, I don't know what is. If you are a guy.....please do not add more money to the coffers of the evil ****-hating FEMINAZI movement.......... if you are a girl? feel free....because MEN ARE PIGS!!!!.

Lets go through the checklist shall we?

hmmmm PJ Harvey (Big Cross...evil man hating femi-nazi)

Velvet Underground (Tick....a bunch of decent, hard working, law abiding apple pie loving american men)

Twin Peaks (Tick.....a story about a refuge called Twin Peaks for men who has been rejected by womenkind. eg: dancing dwarf, 7 foot prostelizing Giant. David Lynch sticks a knife into the heart of the feminist movement by killing man hater Laura Palmer (look what she did to poor Bobby Briggs) not once but TWICE!!! (oh yeah right, like we couldn't see through the true reason of so called cousin Maddie's visit)

The results are clear!!!!!!..... well not exactly but 2 out of 3 ain't bad.



PS: interesting sounding band, I'll steal their music and get back to you. =)

Okay, have heard to it several times. There is definitely something there.

Great voice, haunting in parts, warm and optimistic in some songs. Has really great instrumental backings. I don't know much about Waikiki, only remember seeing a music video on rage a few years back....sweet sounding unoffending pop song, but this sounds alot darker. Has that swagger of PJ Harvey and sounds alittle like Nick Cave in parts too. My favourite songs so far are Low Happening and In the woods.

Agree with you 100%, even with your two favourite songs. There is something about IN THE WOODS, it's one of the most beautiful songs I've heard for a while. I've listened to album a few times now, I will say it the best new release I've heard this year. Although that's not saying too much as I've purchased about 10 new releases in 2006. IMO a highlight in a pretty poor year for music.
 
Only heard the 2 they play on the website but they are very impressive. Normally not much of a fan of female singers in rock bands but there's something very cool about her voice.

so i only recently found out that this group has another album out..

The Loudest Engine They lost me a bit with their last one..it was all a bit to slick, still had some great songs on it though. This one is as strong as the first. it passed the album's that work well with jogging test. the guitar player in this band is ****ing tight..like Really good!

I took a punt and bought the s/t album off ebay for about $4 a couple of months ago. Great stuff, Broken Bones is a mad song. Its a shame it wasn't more popular at the time of its release (at least I can't remember it being).

there is also an amazing b-side called libra
i have no ****ing idea why they left it of the album.
 
Juanita has the best voice in music at the moment. I actually enjoyed their first three albums, Radio Wars doesn't seen as popular as the other two, but it has some wonderful tracks on it. Perhaps it's a little uneven, but it's still a very good album.
Bought their new album today, and will enjoy listening to over the weekend.

Juanita was pretty good on RockWiz a few weeks ago.
