Not much discussion around Hughes on BF. Didn't anyone see that mark he took running back - did not take his eye off the ball - very courageous. Great skill to then spin out of the collision, if he had only gone on and kicked the goal - potential goal of the year.

I think that TW needs to leave him in the side - no matter what - for the rest of the year. Playing CHF is a big gig and a player needs time there to establish himself. If he knows that he has the full support of the coaching staff when he makes mistakes or has a form slump he then doesn't have the pressure of being dropped.

Hughes is a potential star of the future , he just needs the time to develop at the top level.

He has also bulked up quite a bit.
 
Yeah I agree, he should get a regular gig. There should be at least one of Hughes and Riewoldt in every week.
 
Yeah, he was not too bad. I agree that he needs the opportunity to cement his spot by Terry saying "For the next 8 weeks , short of pissing on a police station*, you are going to play" and I think he would come along in leaps and bounds with the vote of confidence.

anyonw know where i can get footage of his mark.
I thought he played pretty good on thursday just did'nt convert but took some nice marks,also looks a good size.

Would like to see Hughes go on and play 22 games for the season, as long as his form warranted it. The next step in our development is getting the young KP types we have up and running and bringing their experience levels up to the same sort of levels as the young midfielders we have. Then we will start to make real progress.
 
I like Cleve, I like him a lot. I sincerely hope he gets 15 or so games this year, from warranting of course.

Such a pity he butchered that kick at goal after his mark. Could've made him as a player.
 
You will see plenty more Hughes performances like the one against WC early last year. Leave him in the seniors and watch our dangerous forward line fire :thumbsu:
 
There was no one more critical of him than me after watchin him in last year's VFL Ressies GF. He was seriously average even at that level. Never been any question that he has got what ittakes just whetehr he chooses to want it enough. From Thursdays game he looks liek he is getting his act together and bloody good luck to him, he could be CHF for a decade if he can sort his shit out. Hope he keeps it going.
 
Great mark.
Just looked very nervous I thought and his poor kicking reflected that.
Needs another game next week. Jury still out but it was encouraging.
