With the changing of the interchange rules for 2011 (3 players and a sub), alot will change in the way the coaches plan for each team.

Who do you see as gaining an advantage/disadvantage from this rule change and has the club drafted the right players when concidering the new rules?

Leigh Brown - Forward/Back/Back up Ruck

Chris Tarrant - Forward/Back/Wing

Andrew Krakouer - Forward/Wing/Mid

Jack Anthony - Forward/Back

It clearly favours a versatile team because there is one less spot on the bench for midfielders to rest, so it's a big advantage to have KPP who can play in more than one position either to rest or to facilitate a rest somewhere else on the ground. Likewise midfielders who can rest forward will be more valueable.

For me players like Beams, Sidebottom, Krakouer, Didak, even Davis, hopefully MacAffer will be even more valuable than before because they could start forward, and say Pendlebury needs a rest but you don't have a like for like replacement on the bench, then Krakeour can go to the middle to win some clearances, and the benched player can move forward.

Leigh Brown is almost the perfect player for these rule changes because he can come on anywhere on the ground, has a huge tank, and won't necessarily need the bench to rest.

Thinking about the number of players who can run through the middle of the ground in our side shows how beneficial this rule change has been for us. I really think this rule helps us more than any other team.

I don't think much will change at all.

This year, we did a lot of rotating of our tall players as well as our smalls. I simply think you'll see us start a taller team and get a guy like Tarrant or Leigh Brown to run his guts off for a half...then sub him off for a running player in the second half to add to the midfield rotations.

Typically, we have 3 mids rotating, and 1 tall. We'll simply see the talls rotate less and midfield rotations won't change a heck of a lot.

I agree with DaVe86, I don't think it's going to change much. It's going to be a problem when a teams subs off a player who isn't injured and then later on picks up an injury, but apart from that I can't see much change.

It's like the game we played later in the year against Geelong, we had Ben Reid injured from the first quarter.

The main thing I think it could do is cause players to get tired later on in the year, but that's a bit of an advantage for us as we generally have a very fit team from the training that we do.
