I stumbled upon an absolute gem on my afl.com.au ventures last night. Have a read for yourself: http://www.afl.com.au/News/NewsArticle/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=58503

"West Coast Eagles assistant coach Peter Sumich declared on Triple M before the game that it had the importance of a final, and that if the result didn't go their way the club would start planning for 2009."

Exactly how do you start planning for the following season, when you are only 7 rounds into the current season? I interpreted that paragraph as something along the lines of West Coast blooding some youngsters, and not really giving too much of a toss about the results of their remaining fixtures in 2008?

If West Coast aren't going to place any importance on the rest of the 2008 season, Carlton must absolutely obliterate them this Friday night.

Go Blues, kick the absolute living shit out of them!

best that we send those weasels into the future then!!:thumbsu:

We shouldn't need any incentive. Bouncing back from yesterdays insipid 2nd half display should be incentive enough.
What we are all forgeting is that we have two of our "potential" prime movers injured in Thornton and Hartlett and we are travelling all the way to Perth after only a 6 day break and after a hard game due to he lack of rotations (due to injuries)

Travel this week should not be too much of an excuse... we played 1/2 a day earlier than the eagles, plus the eagles played in Melbourne this weekend and have also lost time flying back to Perth. So I think in terms of recovery and travel it's fairly even at this stage.

Our biggest concern is home ground advantage, a very anti-Judd crowd, and a ground that a lot of our players have either never played on or have played on 1 or 2 times prior.

This week if we get the win it'll be mainly down to how Judd can assist in preparing the team on tactics as well as how to play the ground. Plus of course hoping Judd fires against his old mob with a 40touch performance!

This game is not going to be as easy as we think.... this kind of mentallity is what has become a disease with our players the last few years when they've been distilled as favourites for the game... and we know what happens....
