- MELBOURNE DEMONS!!!
ok, here's how the players are going - the one who are/were injured...
Peter Vardy – Peter has had a delayed pre-season after under going groin surgery at the end of the 2001 season. He has, however, in the last six weeks been training strongly and was able to play half a game against Hawthorn in Shepparton last weekend
Scott Thompson – After winning the MFC best first year player, Scott has had minor surgery on his knee, which has delayed his pre-season, however he has done some great work in the gym and has bulked up considerably. He is now back in full training in an effort to add to his nine senior games from last year
Daniel Breese – After injuring his knee in the 2001 pre-season, Breesy has been working extremely hard in his rehabilitation over the last 12 months both in the gym and out on the track. He resumed with Sandringham at the weekend and impressed with his dash from the half back line.
Stephen Powell – After missing the entire 2001 season with osteitis pubis, Stephen has worked hard on the training track to get back to his blistering 2000 form. He has been playing with Sandringham in an effort to build up his match practice, Powelly finally pulled on a Demon guernsey against Sydney and impressed by gathering 12 possesions in a half of football
Matthew Whelan – After an interrupted 2001 season with injury, Wheels has been training strongly over the summer and recently recorded a personal best in the 4km time trial.
Cameron Bruce – Has had a great pre-season, always one of first few across the line in the 4km time trial. Starting to get back into top form after booting five goals against Hawthorn in Shepparton two weeks ago.
Daniel Ward – Was top five in the best and fairest last season but has suffered from hamstring tendonitis in this year’s pre season. He is very close to resuming full training. Has recently had his head shaved to support the Leukemia Close Shave Appeal.
Troy Broadbridge – Elevated to the senior list late in the 2000 season, Troy had his first taste of senior football last year and really blossomed into a solid defender for the club winning the 2001 most improved player award. He has added some bulk to his athletic frame over the pre-season, which with his speed and agility, will see him play as one of our key defenders in 2002.
Brad Miller – Taken at number 55 in the 2001 national draft, Brad has impressed all with his great attack of the ball, both in the air and on the ground. Unfortunately after a promising start against the Crows in the Wizard Cup, Brad hurt is AC joint and will miss the next two weeks.
