Interesting Stats 2010

Saints players compared to the rest of the AFL as of round 4.
I alway have a few surprises when I go through these.

Joey has had the equal highest number of kicks in the AFL.
There are no Saints in the top 25 handballers.
Armo has the highest tackle count from StKilda, but he is well down the list at 19th.
No Saints in the top 25 points kickers.
Nick Riewoldt is still in the top 25 for Goal ASSISTS.

Harry Taylor has the most contested marks at 12 but BJ is equal 4th with 9.
Gardiner is equal 6th (8) along with J Brown, J Riewoldt, Hall and Fevola.

From the Saints Milney has the highest number of Marks inside 50. Equal with Eddie Betts, everyone else equal or above them is normally referred to as a tall forward or a Key Postion Player.

Raph has the best effective disposal ratio for the Saints ( but only 13 disposals so far ), interestingly Baker (91.78), Blake, and Ray are also in the to 25.

Oh dear, Milney has had the most clangers in the AFL this year.

Not sure but I think they gave 7 to Geary in the last game.
Not sure what a 1%er is either. Last year Zac was high up for this, but doesnt make the list this year.

I believe it is;

OOF (out of bounds on the full) or;
Direct turnovers to opposition players through disposal.

So a clearing kick can theoretically go 100m, end up in the attacking part of the ground but go over the line and it still would be deemed a clanger.

I think a point is also considered a clanger. Or is it just an ineffective kick?

Actually that sounds silly, should just be ineffective I think.

I forgot about Marks.
Gilbert has the most in the AFL, with Blake, Baker, and Gwilt also in the top 25.
Nothing like a bit of junk time to up the stats.

Armitage is 25th in the AFL for contested possessions. Stephanie something seems to have happened to Luke's stats they forgot to put them in. He's not in the contested posessions or tackles so it must be an error.

They have a seperate stat for free kicks against. ( I think Kingy is on the list ).

Looking at some very old posts on the internet ( they have been keeping this stat for years without anyone knowing exactly what it is ) it may combine obvious f***/ups with free kicks away/kicks out on the full etc.

In order to keep objective stats there must be some sort of a strict definition, but I don't know how to find it (Someone ring up champion data ).
I wouldn't read to much into it if the person with the stats is in the forwardline, ruck, or in and under midfield. In the backline it could be a worry.

Milne, Dawson, and King are now all next to each other in 14th,15th and 16th for free's given away.
No Saints in the top 25 of frees given.

i rate that higher than the pure number, cos blokes like ablett rack up 40 regalarly

Can't get a clear ranking of this without working it out manually for all the likely candidates but:
Armo has 41 of 85possesions contested ( 48%)
Jobe Watson has 73 of 138 contested ( 52% )
Gary Ablett has 70 or 178 contested ( 39%)
Joey has 54 of 150 ( 36%)
BJ has 48 of 118 (40%)
Luke Ball has 32 of 95 ( 33%)

Armo is now 22nd for Tackles, in front of Jones. Joey is 25th and Lenny is 10th. Luke Ball is 19th but we all know that they were soft little girly tackles.
