Internet connection and facebook

I'm curious about something but for some reason if I visit a person's facebook page and they have a large amount of things on their page my computer tells me hat it has become disconnected from the Internet! is there a reason for this, I note it only happens when I visit facebook and only on certain pages that contain a large number of applications!!

Internet Explorer and ISP is Bigpond

same thing used to happen with me when i went on myspace on safari
maybe a different internet browser will work
