The AFL have for only the second time in history this morning announced an investigation into the result of an AFL match. The last time was in round one 1900 into the result of the Melbourne/St kilda match.
Operations manager Andrew Demitriou has this morning said "The standard of umpiring in last nights match was apalling. We think that the five goals that St Kilda got directly from umpiring errors affected the outcome of the game too heavily. We'll have to meet with the clubs involved and the umpiring panel. What we can do, I don't know- maybe we'll play the match again or maybe we can call it a draw and just split the points between the clubs."
