You might be surprised with Broomy if he gets his chance through the middle in the seniors. Has been known to rack up the disposals with the best of them playing in ball in the VFL.

Both Aish and Broomhead get lot of Ball at VFL Level. It's can they Translate that to AFL Footy and Neither really has yet

I reckon he played well. Doesn't panic. Draws a player then creatively hit our blokes in space.

Wouldn't worry about the possession count. That'll lift over time. His ball usage is unteachable though.

and That is why Recruiters rated him so Highly in the Draft

Clearly our worst player and was a real passenger in the first 3 quarters. Got at least 5 of his 11 possessions in the last quarter when the intensity had dropped off. A lot of posters are being too soft and forgiving on him. He's played over 40 AFL games now...yet he is showing nothing. We should all be expecting more than this from him. Compare him to Smith who has played 11 games, didn't cost us 2 second rounders and shows much much more. For me .. he is a worry... no speed, no strength, can't find the footy, can't win a contested ball, when he gets it he's safe but not damaging with his disposal.

Shaw still had 20 Touches so was not Quite Taken out of the Game
Touches mean very little, the question should be what did he do with his 20 touches? Did he find a target? meters gained? rebound from defence to attack? score assist's? TURNOVERS????

Looks like Aish got out of the shithole known as Brisbane just in time with reports suggesting a mass exit's at season end.
This is the problem when you pay significant overs for players without fixing you culture, that everyone wants more money.

Slobbo says in The Tackle that Aish was tagging Scully:

"2. Match-up winners.Tagging has returned to the game and Collingwood took it to the extreme which, combined with pressure and intensity, had too many Giants being non-factors. Grundy disposed of Mumford after quarter-time continuing a rich run of scalps for the Collingwood ruckman.Other winners were Brent Macaffer on Heath Shaw, Ben Sinclair on Toby Greeneand James Aish on Tom Scully, a player in every third of the ground. Taylor Adams was a huge in the midfield, which Mick McGuane would be happy with, and we will say it again, when Jack Crisp is a factor with his aggression, the Pies are a far better team."

I'd disagree with Broomhead, he has shown the ability to win the ball. unfortunately just when he looks like turning it on and putting a string of game together he get's injured. on the plus side his injuries have been impact and not soft tissue so his luck " should " turn around.

Just watched the first quarter and Aish played on Scully for a few minutes but 90% on Whitfield on a wing. Whitfield found a bit of the ball and a lot of space so if Aish was meant to be tagging it was very loose effort. If he was meant to find the ball he positioned himself poorly. Quite often finds himself in nowhere land.

I'll watch some more and see who he takes in the last 3/4.

The first quarter was pitiful from most of our players.

I like Aish, was into him in his draft year and wanted to get him off Brisbane but ATM he's offering us nothing. He's playing on a wing but he doesn't take the game on, isn't damaging ball in hand, doesn't have a huge tank and link up like Sidebottom, doesn't have speed like Varcoe. At the game I saw Scully and Whitfield get out the back pretty easily. I remember a couple of time Scully ran away with us from ease. He didn't look like he was tagging out there. And even if we did need to tag a wingman we would be better off using Varcoe or Crisp.

For mine he goes out this week. We've got a tough game against Adelaide and need to pick the 22 to win the game, can't just pick Aish just because he needs a run at it.

I disagree on the point that Aish was sent back to the 2nds to work on elements of his game. I'm assuming Contested ball and Tackling. to which he has come back in and done both. whilst he isn't setting the world on fire I think to send the kid back now may rob him of confidence.

I think winning football games is more important than Aish's confidence.

yes and no. we have invested in a player for long term and as such need to ensure the asset in the long run pays off. so whilst it's possible we most likely will not feature in the finals this year. so I'd prefer " carry " a player. our assumptions are speculative at best based on kicks and handballs. the club may have other KPI's that he ticked off though.

I was at the game, my assumptions are based on him not doing getting allot of the ball and being and not doing much with it when he got and not being that good defensively either trialling behind his opponents constantly. I don't know what KPI he could have possibly ticked off.

There's no clear opponent Aish is playing on for the whole game I think. He's back on Scully at the beginning of the 2nd on a wing then I'm not sure because he's moved from there and replaced by Sidebottom and Varcoe who know how to sweep behind the pack for a receive or get forward.

In the 3rd Aish is on Kelly when he comes into wing position. He doesn't get into dangerous positions when we have possession and isn't tight in packs defensively when in GWS' forward 50. What he recieves when the ball is in our fwd 50 looks like pure happenstance.

One thing in the 3rd, which was an example of what I mentioned earlier, is him not taking responsibility with his disposal. When Davis kicked the ball out on the full and he was 52 metres out, he didn't kick it at the mouth of goal but back out 25 metres for a pointless switch. Every GWS player was already ahead of us and crammed in the forward 50 and that chain of play nearly resulted in a turnover at CHF but luckily Maynard marked the ball. Aish needs to kick that ball inside, not worry about bumping up his DE. In the end White kicks from the mirror position and does what Aish should have, kicks it to the edge of the square and Cloke marks then blows a goal.

At start of game I saw him Line up on Scully and I was thinking it could be a MisMatch because of Scully's Speed. Scully did not have a Big Impact.

That could Explain the Lack of Ball as he was told to Shut Scully out of the Game

perhaps his KPI's are based on Field position and he ran into the correct spots however his teammates disposed of the ball incorrectly and went to the wrong place, thus actually not allowing him to " accumulate " stats as many on here judge players on.

I do not see Aish a Tagger and I think that be bit of a Waste of his Talent.

I guess he was Caught into 2 Minds.

Got 2nd most Tackles in 6 and Getting lot more Contested Ball.

His biggest Problem I have Noticed is that he seems to be just a Purer Midfielder who Struggles at the Moment to play other Positions. That why at VFL Level he gets 25+ Touches and in the AFL he get at most 15-18 Touches a Game.

I would also keep him in the Side as I think it could Destroy his Confidence and that is something you don't want to do and Plus we won't make Finals even with it being a Mathematical Chance

He did do that then but Only Time I remember him Giving him someone else the Ball to Deliver it.

I remember him Kicking it to Cloke well and Another time was a Well Weighted Kick that Was Run On to and did not miss a Step. A few Handball where he put it to someone who did not Break Stride

I seen him a few times get into the Open and just get Flat our Ignored by his Teammates
