Finished his career playing very good football. Seemed like a really decent, thoughtful guy in the CatsTV videos. He carried on the great tradition of our defence and had he come a few years earlier he would have deservedly won a flag or two.

Best of luck with his AFL retirement and hope his post footy body treats him well for him and his family.

I could be wrong but did his knee issue stem from the injury sustained in his very first game for us - Round 1 2013?

Anyway, he's been a very good recruit, probably our most consistent defender over the past two seasons. All the best Riv.

Shame he didn't get to 200 and the golden ticket. Was a decent player for us considering he came from that culture at Melbourne. All the time in the world to now go to the cricket and get asked to leave.

Sad to see Riv go out like this, has been a great fit in our backline to the point of being our best backman last year.
Thank you for your time in the Hoops Jared enjoy your retirement and hope the knee doesn't bother you too much into the future

Such a shame he didn't make it to his 200th game. Was a good pick up for us. Sad day
Yeah- had the same thought. 200 and a farewell but that means staying on the list for 2016.
Really loved this guy- he just embraced the club when he first set foot in the door and appears to have really enjoyed being a Cat.

How many games was he stuck on? It's a real shame that he had to retire under those circumstances. He's a great bloke and comes from a good family. I worked with his uncle for about five months when I was working as a contractor for the SA government back in 2012. Top fellow, just like Jared I suspect.

I'd have put him as best defender this season as well.
