Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to fromer Nets rebound machine Jayson Williams?

Up until 2 years ago he was the best rebounder in the business but has since disappeared.

Any ideas?

Yeah he retired which was a pity...barring the great Dennis Rodman and Sir Charles in his prime i havent seen a better rebounder...

Why is it the best rebounders always seem to be undersized (I know Jasyon was bigger than the other two)?

Cheers

yeah.. just shows how good they really were...

rodman... SF sized, pretty skinny & not physically intimidating guy who could lead the league in boards for many seasons... outstanding...

barkley... wide, big bodied... yet, way too short to even contemplate getting numbers like that... awesome...

i used to have that barkley t-shirt.. which says..

"any knucklehead can score... but it takes brains to rebound"

hahah.. kinda true... but, rodman with brains? :P haha.. j/k

an outstanding rebounder in this mold (eg. undersized/thin) in the league today, would be shawn marion...

Coxon

Bit unfair with the Rodman 'brains' jibe (I don't deny he's one strange dude). I read once about how much he studied players shot techniques in order to anticipate where and how hard the ball would come off the rim.

To show the brains element, wasn't Larry Bird leading rebounder for the League in his first two NBA seasons. Slow and couldn't jump but smart.

What you say about Williams is correct. 6'10 and retired due to leg injuries. He was considered a jerk during his early NBA career (he played on teams with the likes of Derrick Coleman, Chris Morris and Benoit Benjamin so he could have been tarred by association) but turned it round big time in his later years. He'd be ideal for a team like Orlando now.
