Just a quick question but what do u guys think of Jeff White being moved to centre half forward regulary?? He doesnt seem to dominate the ruck anymore and to me he is a powerfuly built athlete with a good motor and can take a contested mark. This would take the pressure of Neitz towards the end of his career, Newton could develop knowing he is only going to have to handle the oppostions 4th best defender and Robbo would then be able to float around as he pleases. It would also give Jamar and Johnson time to develop in the ruck.

I'd liked to have seen it more this year, but Jeff White could really benefit from a new coach telling him to harden the f&*# up, then playing in the ruck to his potential, at times this year I think he has found his old form at the centre bounces and we still have seen how good he can be around the ground as long as hes not mr sideways

Tell me how many of them were effective?
He isn't a great ruckman and gets bodied out too easily. Take the game last week vs the Pies. Half time hit outs were 22 - 12 in Collingwoods favour. That means he got beat by Bryan and Richards who are woeful.

I will not have any of this Jeff White bashing. Not only is he my favourite player but I believe the onus is on me to stick up for him everytime a thread is brought up about him.
We are blessed to have him and IIRC we weren't smashed in the clearances on Friday evening irrespective of who got the tap. It's not as though Jeffery had the best back up in the world either.
He would be in the best 22 of any team in the league and once again, I won't have any of this bashing. Other than Cox, Lade and Everitt he's probably the most intelligent ruckman in the league

White is a bloody good ruck. Better than Jamar and Johnson and most in the AFL.
Could he be better? Yes!
I believe he should have more of a physical presence around the ground for example the hip and shoulder on Cooney the other week.
Would love to see him go forward more and kick some goals. Resting ruck up forward who can do some damage is a blessing but importantly allows an extra mid field type to rest on the bench which helps the mid field roations enormously.
Overall he has been fantastic for Melbourne for 10 seasons now and hopefully a few more to go.

Definite possibility but it wont be 300 for the dees, because he played 30 odd for freo.
He has been tried on random occasions throughout his career (not for entire matches) and was never really that effective up forward.
I think we should let him finish off his career in the ruck without worrying about going up forward. We already have Neitz and Robertson, plus Newton and Bate up forward. I'd also like to see us keep trying Johnson up forward too.

If you watch the ruck contests i think you'll find Jamar doing about 70% of the rucking for the game, dunno why but i swear he rucked most of the game. Also, when White isn't rucking and Jamar is, we have no option from the kickins. This cost us the game on friday, your last resort long option is usually put it out in front of your ruckmen and let him have a crack at it, but Jamar doesn't lead. Most of our kick-ins it was McLean the only one providing an option and they would sit it up on his head for a collingwood player to mark.
