Hey All

im not saying this 100% right, and its prob another rumour but i heard from a source inside Geelong, that there is an 80% chance Joel Bowden will be at the cattery next year.
Im not sure if we are trading for him, or whether he is out of contract.
Just thought id mention it.
But can u guys imagine a midfiel with the likes of
Riccardi, Bartel, Chapman, Rahilly, Corey, Enright, Kelly, Clarke,Spriggs, wojcinski, and then bowden
pretty scary huh!

Yeah, that rumour has been going around for a while now. How true it is, I'm not sure, but good to bring up. I'd like to see him at Geelong next year! We'll just have to wait and see what happens!

BTW, welcome to BigFooty cat_shack! Good to see more Geelong supporters here! :)

Go Cats!!:)

I'm not sure how true this rumour is but if it is then Joel Bowden would be a welcome addition to our side providing we do not have to give up too much in a trade deal to get him down to Geelong.

Probably the ideal trade would be a draft pick. We don't want to trade a player who has been around the club for the past seasons. I hope the club think about this trade, because he would be a welcome inclusion to the team!

There is plenty of division as to joel's worth and value in richmonds side (check the richmond board ) many believe he is a must keep player despite his flaws....... and there are others such as myself that believe it might be worth trading him if we could get a reasonable pick and or player for him.

Dont know how reliable the sources are/one of many that probably has little substance, but if true i'd be happy if the price is right
:)

Bowden is just what we need.

I'd personally play him up across half forward where he can boot a few into the Hickey stand.

Would be a handy asset in the middle as well

Always been a fan - When does he sign?!?!?!?!?!

Please, take him. No questions asked.

If only it was that easy. Well, they wanna get rid of him, and we want him. It's in the hands of the match committee and selectors now. They'll make the best choice for the team!

Only if you take Ronnie Burns. He can add to Richmond's collection of Geelong rejects, along with Biddiscombe,Houlihan,Neeld & a few others.

Putting it that way, the deal seems ideal for the Tigers!! They should take it up :D :D

This isnt just another "one" of those rumours, it is fair dinkum, if we can pull the right strings bowden will come, he has stated he wants to look at another club.

I cant believe the knob on the port board who said we will trade scarlett for the murrary bro's ??? lol i saw that mssg 4-5 days ago and am still laughing about it lol lol

Just what we need, another player who is so one sided it is not funny.

He can join the hoplessly left sided club of Burns and Riccardi.

Please stay at Richmond Bowden, we already have enough of your type, and some of our youngers are going to be better than you ever were.

Surely you guys seriously don't want him???

I agree with you... as I've said before on this board, 95% of trade talks and rumours at this time of the year are absolute crap!!

Neeld was no champ but did pretty well for Richmond in the 1995 Finals series. Also believe was a decent contributor for Geelong in 1991 series.

And let's not forget he was in America in the mid-1990s as Richmond's ambassador to a school that had taken up Aussie Rules. For that he should be automatically in the AFL's Hall of Fame.

Would be interesting to see him in the same forward line as Richardson. When Richo loses his temper with Ronnie, Burns can respond with his 'six-shooter' routine.

A partnership that would result in high entertainment but low goal scoring.

There is something wrong with this sentence, "high entertainment & low goal scoring" are mutally exclusive, especially when it is your team that is not scoring. If you were ever going to be on a board to prove it, you are in the right place, based on the last 6 seasons at Geelong!!

We wont mention the Brett Spinks / Ronnie Burns combination of 1998 then shall we!! :D:p

Simon Arnott has been playing at Central Districts in the SANFL and was a part of their losing Grand Final side against Sturt a couple of weeks ago.

I thought Arnott was actually unlucky not to be given more chances at Geelong in his last season there in 2000.

Spinks was an embarassment!! :o

LOL!!:D He was meant to be the one who fixed our forward problem after Gary Ablett retired, and be at least a "kick to" man. Well we all thought he was going to be that after the first few games when he got bags of 4, 5 & 6, but for 2/3 of the season it was all downhill.

Yeah he was unlucky. He hardly got a game in the seniors that year (4 games), and was an emergency on something around 12 times. But he did have a good season in the VFL and in that season the VFL also did really well.
