Still bitter about not getting the coaching gig???

Does anyone have a link to Sheedys article? I'd be interested to see how he rates them.

I had a quick look at Sheedy`s article and thought it was pretty right where he ranked Newman, and he actually praised Newman similar to what Johnson has.

I think Newman is a fantastic captain but he`s had the job for 2 years and we`ve finished 15th both times,it`s pretty hard to put him above most of the blokes who Sheedy ranked above him.

Kane Johnson is playing for Montrose in EFL divvy 2 if anyone is interested, along with Troy Simmonds too. Theres not too many premiership players/AFL captains running around in the EFL. From what I've been told though he hasn't been having much of an impact, Simmonds is monstering oppositions though

I think this was the key quote for me from Johnson.

"It's always hard to compare captains when you don't know what is going on at other clubs, but the way he (Newman) plays his footy is a real example," Johnson said.

In other words, it is impossible to rate the captains from one through 17 and there is simply no real criteria to do so.

Newman is the man for us right now and doing a wonderful job and sets by example. IMO, his worth to the team is more than a Cameron Ling or Nick Maxwell as they have played in and captained predominantly good teams, and no adveristy!

Johnson used to have the entire team over for a big session on his birthday about a week before the start of the season, culminating in his infamous 'pissing on the cop station' incident and years of soft performances (if they weren't out with a soft tissue injury) from the usual brigade of half-fit party boys.

I'm glad we're through with overpaid, unprofessional, selfish players like Johnson, there's nothing lamer than him of all people pretending he knows something about what being a good leader of a football club is all about.

Hardwick is succeeding in no small part because he doesn't have to deal with a playing group far more interested in getting paid for living it up and dodging anything resembling hard work than winning a flag.

Newman was shocking today - not a Captains effort at all - weak!

When the pressure was one... when he was under the pump... when the game was on the line, he went missing and made crucial errors that good Captains don't make.

Giive it to Cotchin at years end, Newman isn't a good Captain.

This was a massive game for the Club and Newman failed dismally.

I thought it was ironic he was on at half time talking about what it takes... how about showing us Chris.

One of the worst games from him for a long time I think, seemed to not be with it 100% out there.

How typical, the guy has an off day and the idiots come out and question his leadership, never saw that one coming.

I would hope by using 'idiots' you were not referring to me. I think hes a great captain, just thought he had a bad game as plenty of others did.

I haven't seen the list but I assume van Berlo, Cassissi, Green and Glass are the ones that are worse, in which case 13th sounds about spot on. He did have a shocker today, back to his bad old days of pre-2010.
