FORMER Richmond skipper Kane Johnson underwent minor knee surgery on Thursday after an injury picked up in last week’s NAB Cup loss to Collingwood.

Johnson had a knee arthroscopy at Epworth Hospital and is expected to remain on the sidelines for several weeks.

Richmond doctor Greg Hickey assured Tiger fans that Johnson’s injury was not likely to keep him off the field for an extended period.

“Kane has experienced ongoing issues since he suffered a knee injury against Collingwood in round two of the NAB Cup,” Dr Hickey told richmondfc.com.au.

“He has sustained only minor damage to his cartilage but it will require a clean up,” he said.

"I would expect he would be out of action for several weeks"

Good chance for Polo and Thomson to step up.

That sux. At 31, he'll struggle to regain fitness. He may spray it a bit, but he gets a lot of it and is a great leader.

I would have thought it would open the door for Rance. We need a big strong boy like that breaking the lines.

:( We only got a few weeks without him guys, lets make the most of it :p

But in all seriousness I hope everything goes well and he can step up this year without the pressure of captaincy.

get well soon johno...my crows supporting mates still rue hes not playing for them...

that said this is a great opportunity to have one of the younger guys step up. Polo is definitely in the mix along with thomson. Hislop is also a chance. I think Rance is a given to play this year, and if not, then he should be..

I thought acts of God weren't covered by insurance companies.......?:o

Stop being a douchebag Beaver you know what he meant. I know people will think this is good for us but it does hurt our round 1 chances a little bit IMO. He would of tagged Judd and has done it successfully in the past.

[/b]have to admit it's gettting better a little better all the time.

I love Kane, but well said (or sung), Boodsyboy.

With our depth this year (yes, I said depth), it can only benefit us in the long run. Fair dinkum, I'm toeier than a roman sandal about 2009.

shame to see him injured, as far as i can see he cops some stick from richmond fans.
was a vital member of our 97/98 premiership campaigns and will always be held in high regard by adelaide fans, wouldnt mind him at the crows still.
get better soon johnno :thumbsu:

I played basketball last night and twisted my right knee... felt that familiar dull throbbing pain associated with cartledge split/damage (all too familiar for me... I have had both knees cleaned out before)

I'm thinking about tossing it in and hanging up the Air Jordans...

What do you reckon Sugga? ;)
