Had a good game today and adds another dimension to our game with his beautiful left foot. He showed some toughness today as well going in for the hardball and courageously putting his body on the line. I remember in a contest in the last quarter he had his head well over the ball and collided heavily with an opponent, a sign his confidence is up.

Very important player for our team.

I agree. I think he has started taking a lot more marks too, contested. Whenever he gets in front of an opponent he goes for the grab, which is a massive confidence pointer for defenders. Has put together 4 or 5 solid games in a row now, good stuff Josh... Will be prominent in setting us up from defense too, unless we need him to take the opposition dangerous small-mid forward (Ebert). Is very dangerous whenever kicking inside forward 50... a leading forwards dream.

correct. played well today, was interesting hearing the triple m crew including jason dunstall say he had been "ok" today. I thought he was very good, though, the delivery was terrible to the roos forwards, and very occasional. The amount of times they bombed it high and long around the wings/flanks towards goal was unbelievable, would've been disappointed with anything less from josh today. Did put his body in and seem to have good aggression for the ball all day though, well done!

yeah he was easily bodied out of a contest early on where he went to ground, was much better from then on however.

From memory it looked to me like he actually felt a touch in the back from Edwards, then took a bit of a dive as an attempt to win a free kick.

The guy is easily in our best 18 and has the most penetrating kick in the comp. I for one can sit back when he has the ball in the centre, and 'am confident a goal is about to be set up.

I dont mean to be mean but I dont think he had a great game today. Didnt put a foot wrong but still has to improve a little bit.

Really liked his link play, that 'IS' his game from the backline, stick to it Josh!!!

He can look so devastating when he does this, looks like a creator rather than a long bomber, which I think suits his style of game more. The break the lines and kick long to a target and/or link up with handball looks great when we have Josh on the end of it. Usually it means a long kick into the forward 50 and with his penatrating kick, anything can and does happen.

Great game today Josh, keep it up.

Certainly played the so called "Quarterback Role" beautifully today. Just the way he set up plays with his precision passes, whether it be over 20 metres or 50 he just kept spotting blokes up. Most of the time they didn't have to break stride either.

Outpointed Edwards in a few marking clashes as well which was good considering Edwards is more than capable in the air. Confidence is a wonderful thing.

Liked his game yesterday.

Defensively, he managed well on a leading forward in Edwards. Edwards had to work hard (well, harder than usual) to get his ball, and whilst he got away (and hence was probably the most involved forward for the Roos on the day) from Josh a few times, alot of those moments were out on the wing then within the forward fifty, which is a win. As others have mentioned, his confidence was on display early on, and throughout the rest of the game, with his marking ability overhead.

His linking play was generally good too; kicking back to normal. This all bodes well for team and our kicking-in structure, given the added dimension, variety, and quality in setups and plays when Hunt is doing the role to good effect.

And yes, it was also pleasing to see him throw his body, and weight, around the ball and contests yesterday.

I'm normally a big critic of Hunts, much to Renegade's disgust, but he played a pretty solid game against the Roos.

The dive he took in the first quarter had me a bit worried but he definately redeemed himself after that point.

I still get nervous when he 'leans' on the ball while waiting for an option upfield. By this I mean his head is relatively low to the ground when he's looking to pass to a team mate. A lot of his bullet passes get chopped off by an opponent because his vision is restricted.

I also hate that he holds onto the ball for too long. So many times he either gets caught or forced into an ineffective disposal because he's wasted precious seconds. I just wish he'd know his limitations and move it on quickly. He can be creative as he wants when he has room to work but on the last line of defence he mucks around too much.

Hunt was invovled in a piece of play in last quarter which would be described in soccer as a beautiful "thorugh ball" where a perfectly weighted kick went over the heads of two north defenders and found Mackie literally only 2 metres past them.

SUre there was no pressure by tht stage but goe to show how deft kicking will always be a critically important skill

You weren't sitting in M52 by any chance were you mate?

I'm so proud of Joshy, he was awesome on sunday :)

It's the Josh of old. He's come good at just the right time. With Egan out he needed to deliver and did it sensationally.
