Jumper Clashes

We cop a lot of flak for our jumper clashes and that is probably fair enough imo. There are plenty of other shockers though and last night's clash was terrible - dark-blue and red v's black and red. Somewhat spoiled what was a fairly decent contest for most of the game.

Another infuriating aspect was that the Fox score-box in the upper-left of the screen only displayed the Essendon score on my set. I assume the thing was designed for wide-screen but not everybody has that.

Your 2 different jumpers combinations are ok for clashes imo except maybe against North, even then if they wear white shorts and the Magpies wear black shorts both with home strips on you would probably get away with it.

Last night was a bloody joke though, better not happen during the regular season it's supposed to be a professional competition ffs.

There was a jumper clash because Melbourne's clash jumper was printed in the wrong colour (the red was pink) and they don't want to wear it. I guess they don't have to anymore being kicked out of the cup.

Anyway watching the game the two teams were pretty similar but you got used to it quickly enough. As for the Pies v North don't we have a blacker strip now for this game?

In the days of black and white television, no one used to complain when Collingwood played North. You knew who your players were and the guys who you didnt know were obviously playing for the opposition rabble. It worked fine.

Besides, when the players head is down and his bum is up, you can see the colour of his shorts.....no problemo...

As for our clash strip, North don't want the gravy train of a home game against us in exchange for the baby blue stripe - fair enough, so we are forced into a predominantly black kit..

All in all, of all the things I am proud of about this club, the fierce loyalty to the fundamental elements of the black and white vertical stripes is right up there.. The game moves forward inevitably but pride in our history is a very good thing.
