How about trying Sean Rusling in the backline? With his speed he will give great rebound... and he can also develope his understanding of the game.

He has very poor agility. Can't turn quick enough, and would be exposed badly.

There is nothing wrong with our backline. Clement and Shaw are options to come back and as it is the backline has stood up well anyway. The backline has been the rock of the side for years. When you have substandard rucks and the midfield gets a hammering the backline will suffer accordingly. Our issues are in the middle not at either end.

I doubt Rusling would be the answer even if it was the right question.

lol..he has not proven himself yet as a forward......
lets see if he can play 1st

A couple of years ago Gotch tried Rusling in a game at full back and he performed OK. Trouble is we have a surplus of defenders but we need someone to help out Cloke and Rocca when they are held, hence the need to use Maxwell in a forward role (Maxwell is more suited as a defender).
Can't blame the backs for what happened against Brisbane. Our midfielders were slaughtered which opened up space in the Brisbane forward line. Compare that to the Collingwood forward line which was congested whenever the ball was moved down there. Modern football is about moving the ball quickly into attack and creating space for forwards to lead into.

To me Rusling is a fast leading marking player, who is a reliable set shot for goal,he is very suspect when going for balls below knee-height , does not turn all that well, which in my opinion makes him one dimensional.
